MS2 kit mate! I bought MS2 with a loom, casing, stim for a shade over $350 which is £213 from diyautotune.com. Once you've sorted out all the connectors for the loom and perhaps bought a relay board and whatnot you're lookin at about £350. By far the best management for the price, yeah you have to build it but it'll teach you a lot about it.

You could even run it on an MS1 which is even cheaper, however the MS2 has a higher resolution for timing and injectors which will obviously help you out if you're running boost.

edit: can also do away with the shitty primitive dizzy and get some semi-sequential ignition on there.

Toby did I reply to your pm? Honestly can't remember

This pm filter thing is a pain in the arse, if I come on here to more than one pm I reply to the first then have to wait to reply to the other, by then i'm normally engrossed in some thing else and totally forget about the pm. Any way if I didn't reply then yes you can borrow it if you still need it mate

Guy, you didn't reply to me no :crybaby: haha.

That fiver i owe you, want me to pay for a years CP membership? Then you wont have no filter ;)

Cheers though dude, Dunno when ill be able to grab it off you. Unless if i paypal you some money over you could post it to Max for me?

Maximus, I didn't reply as i did know the answer

If i can get this valve tool to you, you can strip it all down clean it, new seals and yam back together?

Ask robbo how much for cleaning, then you can tell me how much u want for doing all the rest (as I've asked you several times now )

Dunno if its worth cleaning all the valves up while there out? What you think?

And yeah, some of the bolts are missing. Gunna order a few from VW once i have it back.

Ill gladly do that but it might take a while.

If you can get some stem seals and post them over (haven't got the time to look and buy them at the moment), then send it me.

They usually come in a headgasket set you get from GSF, dont know if the AFH ones do? If they do, get one of them as it will save you a shit load of mony, your gonna need one anyway.

Then ill strip, skim , clean and rebuilt it for you.

I'm skint till next month though. cant afford a HG set till I'm next paid

What time scale are we talking? 2 weeks and I'm gunna be ready to build it back up and put it in the car.

What you need to know about the mount?

Ey? 2 weeks!

How can we do all that in two weeks you pillock lol

About the mount, am i machining the holes in it or what? I needed to know the hole position dimensions...

or do people just lay the mount of it and use that?

Where did you post them pictures of it?

  • Author

Do all what?

What i meant was, I'm gunna be ready to go in 2 weeks, how longs it gunna take u to have the head ready? As thats all ill be waiting on then.

The pics are in here somewhere dude, few pages back.

Sod the bottom holes, i can do that here. Use the mount to do the top 3 holes.

Unless i have a look at this block in a mo. but i dunno if the 1.6 and 1.4 blocks have the holes in the same place. dont wanna go ruining the plate by drilling holes in the wrong place lol.

Its not going to take forever but dont expect it in two weeks lol

The plate just want the same hole spacing as the mount then right?

Yeh exactly the same dude.

I'm thinking of getting a hire car for a couple of days when i next get paid. So was thinking i could pop up for a day to get it. So say if you can get it skimmed and cleaned in 2 weeks. I could come up to yours and clean the valves, build it back up in a day? Valves probs just need scouring pad kinda thing to clean up dont they? and some chemicals :unibrow: Could bring the seals up with me then to save posting um.

Sound like a plan?

Ill try my best to get it done as soon as i can, if robbo can clean it , i doubt he will be able to do it anytime soon as me and salty have given him loads to do lol,

I can give it a once over clean and skim it pretty soon/quickly, then we can go about cleaning it or getting it cleaned.

Youd just need to get some turps or meths i think.

Then yeah you can come up and get it or whatever, changing the seals is a 10 min job.

As for the mount, what is the plate actually for again? I dont get its purpose lol

  • Author

Its so your not using just 2 bolts on the engine mount.

theres only 2 holes at the top of the AFH block. And then 2 at the bottom. So the plate bolts to the block via the 4 holes, and the 3rd engine mount bolt goes through the plate and you yam a nut on the back (as theres room behind it). thats the purpose. Probs could run without, but VW must have put 3 bolts there for a reason....

Got you!

what are them two bolts at the bottom actually for then?

I'll have a go at cleaning it matey, not sure if our phoswash machine will be strong enough but I can have a go, or I'll leave it to soak in chemicals for a few days

  • Author

Power steering pump i think max.

Cheers Robbo :D

Would need a LOT of chemicals to leave it to soak haha!

Haha well with the chemicals we use, I just stripped saltys rocker cover of all the paint by pouring it onto it so it's fairly strong shit haha

Ill bring it up this weekend then robbo.

if you wanna pay my membership instead then thats fine with me

God knows how long with the file.. proper awkward as I'm at stupid angles due to it not being that high up and the garage been small.

Cains your arms fully.

Didn't take me long though tbh, went on dead easy with the dimples gone. One hole doesnt line up perfect, will get a round file on it when i come to fitting the TCA, but the bolt goes through it by turning it :)

Just the nice person of a job fitting the ARB with the blocks, el mission'o

Fuck me, end of the week and we will be on 50 pages!

Edited by B-shaw

Should have bought an angle grinder :p

arb blocks were a right slag on mine, but then so were the tca bolts so you might be ok!

Good stuff
