 Give it but you cant take it.

It was a communal queary that we had the other day, i'm entitled to enquire about it pal, don't worry ill leave you to be the "know it all bender"

Sorry for spamming up your thread tobes

i dont say shit about your family, so leave my sis out of it. simples.

so whats left did you can get your beast running tobothy

True its vacuum , but because the diaphram at the end of the dizzy line is sealed, there's no air travel and it won't get 'sucked' out.

I'm not saying its gonna cause anything, but because the vacuum is so small there is a possibility of a build up, the dizzy vac lines always seem to go discoloured which can only be fuel.

And I'm not doubting the design , I just wondered about it as it was something mentioned the other day when we were fitting it to saltys,

Thats cool, I've wondered about the same thing before too :-)

But the dizzy diaphragm being sealed is the exact reason why air and fuel can't be sucked through. On intake stroke the air pressure in the cylinder is lower than the air pressure in the manifold/vac lines, so with the throttle fully closed the air has to be sucked from somewhere. The pressure in the vac lines is decreased which is what creates the vacuum. Air will take the easiest route to equalize the pressure and with the descending piston and open valve, the only place the mixture can go is in the cylinder. I think thats why it's possible for us to have the vac take offs where they are. :-D

I think the reason the dizzy vac lines go discoloured is because of fuel like you say, but I'm pretty sure thats only because people on here insist on having a vac take off on every runner. With them all linked together there's bound to sharing of air and fuel vapour between them.

I've always had only one take off for brake servo and dizzy on my own manifold and nothings ever discoloured on mine :-D And I have no pulsing brake pedal or pulsing advanced timing like people love to speculate on

 wtf

Dont worry about taking so long Arun, Not asif i needed it quick

I've just had a heart attack... £103 in bank charges   And i dont even know what for

But knowing the bank, i dont stand a chance of getting out of it, cus there nice people. So thats just taken £103 out of car funding. I could fucking cry tbh.

Fuck knows when this thing will be ready, I'm not loosing faith but its getting on my nerves now

Cylinderhead is fuck knows where with citylink... I await my reply from them tomorrow. Hopefully they will attempt to deliver (even though ill be at work) tomorrow. Atleast i know where it is then.

As much as i want it on the road, i refuse to cut corners.

Exhaust, i could wack a crappy thing on for now but i really dont want to. I want it to be spot on, which means having one custom made.

Also i refuse to drive it untill its been setup on a rolling road.

The odds are against this being finished even for Action at this rate. NEED to win the lottery  Even if i win the stupid amount on the euro (like 166 million) I'm still going to finish this haha. It will be at poloshow if i do ;)

What exactly have you got left to do though?

Bet you dont take as long as i did

phone up the bank and demand it back! mother fuckers

Pic of the beast from the weekend at VW action in the daily show n shine (that was full of blatant show cars that all won, that clearly only ever see a road when it comes to a show)

And, one of my orange top mount covers went walkies, either fell off or got robbed by some thieving scum whilst in the show n shine.

whered you get the bonnet struts from dude? :) I've just spent like an hour at work reading the thread and I'm half way through 8-)

ye what is the left to do weve not had pics of engine in yet have we?!?! or are they all to be revealed?

He's still waiting to recieve the cylinder head we skimmed for him over here.

Bloody peice of shit

that inlet mani is sweet ;) btw got that air duct in post today lad nice one

Its not things i have left to do thats the problem. I have all the time in the world to do it

Its the fact that i have no fucking money, ever. Not helped by the bank being nice people!! Id managed to be good with bank charges, not had any for months (i was really crap with it before) And then BANG.

Realised whats happened though, i hadn't even realised that id gone over by £2.64... I got charged £5 a day for it.. fucking madness. With a £25 charge ontop of that for going over my overdraft. I fucking hate banks, the thieving bastards.

I still have to buy a load of stuff, thats where the problem lies.

custom exhaust and rolling road setup, you can all imagine thats not cheap?

Then theres all the cambelt stuff.

fuel pump, all cables n hoses etc.

Need oil pressure gauge so thats another thing i need to buy, and all the bits to make it work.

Might not seem like a lot, but i earn peanuts and have to pay a fair bit of board (which some of you lucky nice people probably don't pay anything )

If i had the money... I could have this in and running by the end of the week. (providing the head arrived like now )

that'll teach you to spend money you aint got! cant you pimp your skills out or something to earn some cash? tidy up some scabby wheels and flog on for modest profit etc. should have left the car as it was in the pic above. looked spot on imo

May have looked good, but it was slow

If i was at college, i could paint some stuff. But now I'm not it would simply cost too much to do anything like that. I'd never make money back on it.

And its not asif i went n bought something crazy, i went over by less than £3  I didn't even know this had happened until i got the statement yesterday telling me lol.

Also, you lot nagging me about it aint gunna get it done no quicker. Pissing me off now if I'm honest.

It'l get done, slowly. At least this way it will be done properly also. Means i can concentrate on all the silly little things, which is what this car is about, all the little things that nobody notices

Oil pressure and temp senders are pretty cheap mate,

£40 for some pretty decent qauilty ones, include the sender too.

Also, you don't REALLY need to go to a rolling road, borrow an anylzer off someone and get swapping the main jets untill you get it right, as long as your not running lean you will be fine. Not that mant people have taken them to rolling roads on here and they're all still working, and working well!

Yeah the best thing is to take it to aldon or what have you, but you can get it running 90% wish some trial and error old fashion tuning, it will save you a packet and you'll be on the road quicker. If you want ill come down with my colourtune and inovative motorsport anlyzer and help you out.

'Please be advised that I have contacted City Link and the depot advise they have the parcel and it will be delivered tomorrow, it was at the depot with no labels as the driver did not label correctly so they have sent their apologies. '

Atleast i know where it is now lol.

Tyres are off the pls 8-)

Not surprised at all, out admin staff said that on both occasions when they came to pick up, the delivery drivers were complete retards.

Also, i labelled them up myself so what the fuck are they talking about?

nah, like there stickers with rout number etc on um.

PLS update

Found out that they are all 8's and not 8's and 7.5's as the centers state.

However, this has given me the choice to make them even more epic

The ones that say 7.5 have a 2" dish and center then a 6" barrel

The ones that say 8 have 2.5" dish and center and 5.5" barrel

Which means, If i swap barrels, i can have 2x 7.5" and 2x 8.5" And without making them stick out of the arches any more/less as its only the barrel that changes.

So, I think thats what I'm going to go for, providing it doesn't cause contact on the rear shock. Will have a look tomorrow to see what the clearance is.

Also awaiting another 4 PLS centercaps in the post, So I'll have 3 spare :D PLS centercaps, rare? asif

Some better pics of um

Width comparison, the thing that confused me when i had the tyres taken off

It was then i decided to start measuring and figuring out what was gwarnin.

Need to sort getting some of the dents out of the dishes.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the kerbing. Think ill smooth it off as much as possible and live with it.

I reckon it'd be new dishes otherwise to fix it.

Think I'm warming to them, i'm just not totally sold on the actual centre face.

With the alleycats, to sort the bits of kurbing out i'm giving them a skim in my lathe. Should clean up in a few MM's, if you want i'll do yours too?

Might also be worth getting some chemical metal on them aswell?

  • Author

What bloody kerbing on the cats?

Nothing a piece of sandpaper couldn't fix? lol

And you cant use chemical metal if your going to polish? Don't think it would polish too well, it wouldn't blend. Could be wrong though.

Don't think it'd be ideal to skim these tbh, there not like the cats, they have a bit of a flat edge, these don't.

Did you actually look at them lol? The lip not being flat won't be a problem, it can be blended, it will be the only way to get it even too.

Offers there anyway pal.

  • Author

How easy would it be to polish them after?

And if i were to take you up on the offer, id only be sending you the dishes, not the entire wheel. So not sure if ud still be able to do it?

Not a chance in hell I'm risking these babies going missing

And the cats, like one had a bit of a scratch and another had a slight dink maybe? they looked mint to me. Nothing some time with sandpaper wouldn't fix lol.

Whats the inside diameter of the dish?

And Nah its only two of them like you say, there gonna need a skim. Gonna look sick though!

Decided on the finish I'm going for on the barrels. I was going to get them powdercoated silver. But for the same price i can go black chrome 8-)

Win win win i say.

Id say between 10 - 11 inch, defo no more. *goes and measure as there only downstairs*

Just under 10" from opposite split bolts.

Should be no problem to clean it up then mate.

hadn't checked this for a while.

Still not done
