No point in trying to time 0-60 unless you have the proper timing shit, some dude sat next to you with a stop watch while you shout START and STOP at him while using the cars speeding won't tell you jack shit tbh

I'll know more about what difference its made on paper once the rr day is done and I've had a day at the pod, but that's just on paper, in day to day driving its made a very noticeable difference with a lot more torque and it kicking in much lower down the powerband

Fair play! Sounds good man! I'm gonna look in to running injection i think. How hard would it be to wire in a complete 16v dash and clocks if you get both looms ect? Surely itd be piss easy?

It would probably be easier to just swap the whole 6n loom into the mk2 and then rewire stuff like the rear loom so it has the plugs on the end to fit the mk2 lights ect. No idea how close the 6n dash would be to fitting tho. Seems like a lot of hassle for a not very nice dash

Seen a 6n dash in a mk1 golf so i spose its possible, yeah mk5 would be nice but then its connecting the mk4 engine to mk5 loom. Hmm project for the future me thinks!

I've had a mess about with a 6n dash in a mk1 golf. You need to change the gear stick for a scirocco one or you can't select 1,3,5,R. You need to fit electric Windows or you damage the dash trying to wind the Windows down. The speedo doesn't work as its electric, probably can be wired in mine but we didn't try. And the dash itself really isn't the best fit.

Are the golfs not wider than the mk2 polo? If so its not going to fit without some heavy dash raping

Some small progress, kinda

So, its taken me till now to gather enough parts to actually start playing with the bottom end

Week or so back i attempted to swap the oil pickup and sump's.. All was going well until it came to fitting the sump

The mess my mom was dead chuffed about....

Pickup fitted (dipstick thingy also cut shorter after picture was taken)

tightening all the sump bolts and the 2 that went into the crank seal (transmission side) were both fucked (thanks Dom )

One was already shagged, figured it was ok so long as the other went tight.. no such luck lol. slowly tightening and then 'pop' gone

Anyway, got another seal off of Briscoe (the legend) and got the sump fitted the other night. Bolts went in perfectly. All nice and tight now, with a brand new gasket.

And tonight, i figured id give it a clean ready for the head.

Id have the engine dropped in if it wasnt for me wanting a new clutch. But thats gotta wait as I've something else to buy this month

Should however see some sort of progress next week :)
