Tubs I've just bought a polishing kit so i'll let you know how I get on with it other the weekend, if it works well its a hell of a lot cheaper than a trip to rainbow would be

I vote you stick it on a set of steelies to get it running and MOT'd, piss about with PLS's at a later date :-)

What's all this 'getting out of debt' malarky?

I rinsed my savings and last student loan payment on my G40 engine - regretted it for precisely ZERO SECONDS since.

Valver engine looks nice though :)

Engines nearly built, just started on the clutch but had to stop.

Should be in tomorrow :-D

Lad

bloody hell its been near a year and a half since I've seen this and i may actually see it again good lad

  • Author

Cheers :D

It's all moving so fast  From nothing for over a year to suddenly rolling on new suspension and a few hours away from having the engine put in :o

theres still an hour of daylight left get to it

Yeah that about right for the stance it had last time it was on the road...

Nice work man, looks fresh!

Doesnt look like the engines going in today :(

Every fucker that was meant to be helping has dropped out :( lol.

Ahhwell, ill faff with other things on my own.

Interior, rocco mirrors, fogs, audio stuffs. list is endless LOL

Get too it slacker!

That or go to the gym!, you should be able to lift it in on your own..

  • Author

Lift an engine with box and other bits attached on my one. having a fucking laugh.

I dont know anyone that could do that, let along lift it over a slam panel, holding it in place whilst securing it

Anyway. clutch is on, box was too until i realised i'd forgot the plate that goes between the box/block so off it came. Then i couldnt get the box back on on my own (higgo helped me 1st time round)

I attempted it, with mass failure of the engine falling over. This is what happens when you struggle to do things on your own.. which is why i don't do it  Luckily there's no damage, but it could have been worse.

Anyway, tomorrow the box will be on when bretlle comes round to help again.

Got this fucker sorted though...

318007_10151772111375154_818965153_24824

Took some doing, considering the drill bit that i needed was blunt

small hole drilled, then savaged with the hacksaw and a very small drill, then finished off what was left with the blunt drill  Managed it in the end though, and luckily i had spare new bolts that were the right size in the garage, bonus!

Anyway, all i need to do to the engine now is faff a bit more with the alternator pulley to get it bang on perfect, get the box on. Take the main pulley bolt out so i can put the cam cover on that we forgot about yesterday, bollock that up, then.. its ready to drop in. Which may well happen tomorrow hopefully.

Exciting times!

Sorry yeah, totally forgot you were a bit retarded, just slide the engine underneath the front of the car, then lift it a corner at a time, its piss easy you big puff!

Haha Toby when I first mated my engine and box together I forgot that plate lol :)

Isn't worth struggling on your own mate, unless you've a crane. It's not really safe either cause say the engine fell on you, you could have been a bit stuck haha :)

Good to see progress!

  • Author

Its a pain in the are that way max.. i know. I took the GT engine out that way on my own

I'd rather just wait till i have help... I'm all for making life easier

I do have a crane, its shit. Does the job though!

Another problem is that id need to push the car onto the road. This is all good, getting it onto the road. However then pushing it across the footpath and onto grass (thats a slight hill) with an engine in on my own is impossible! And i'm not feeling leaving it on the road with no tax/mot/insurance etc.

Bit more progress to come too, didnt do the interior earlier so gunna do it now whilst its cooled down a bit and still light :)

Haha Toby when I first mated my engine and box together I forgot that plate lol :)
