Love this mk4, looks cool and fresh with it's white colour! 8-)

I used to drive around with the 15 inch ones (Polo GTI) RS 772's on my mk4, with a 60mm widening (30mm spacers) on the back, and 50mm widening (25mm spacers) up front. A lot more poking compared to the standard look, but still tucked in needly with my airride. Unfortunately I only have pictures from before I rolled my rear-arches, so I couldn't let the airride drop as much as after rolling them. Still som epictures with the 30mm spacer on 15's on the back, just so that you can get an image on how it will look:

would love air ride for my polo, but would like to know how much work is needed to get the kit fitted and also wheres the best place to source the kit?

Installed a kit on a 3BG Passat station on friday. 2 man job, took us about the day, so about 16 hours of getting it in, and starting from scratch (supplied the Passat owner with a brandnew set). It's not hard at all, if you know how a pneumatic system works and have some fair electronic skills.

I don't know where you can get a set in the UK, I'm from Holland myself. Me and a mate compile sets ourselfs, complete custom to order, but we're in Holland, so don't think we could be of help.

Looks great Jarno, thanks!

definitely going to have to get some 25mm for the front currently only have 20mm to use!

I picked up some acid etch primer yesterday so i can prep the lips accordingly as they are down to bare metal! I am going to crack on this week after work and get the other 3 wheels stripped and primered ready for some candy white action! ;)

REALLLLLYYYY NICE!!

^ that photo gets me literally going!

Good job man!

chrispy9, I'm getting an air ride kit that my mate is speccing up for me after christmas, so i can let you know how hard it is to fit then, it shouldnt be as difficult as fitting it to a piss-rat as it doesnt have the separate spring and dampener, but the kit will cost more as the bags are more specialist for the back to fit our cars. I'm getting a complete Independent 4 way kit as this stops the car from having major roll when cornering, and also allows you to control the height of all 4 corners. but yea, its not particularly difficult to fit, and when finished after my respray ill bring it along to so-vag so you can take a look :)

i would love air ride :D

right then update: considering bbs lacquer peel literally effects all RX2 alloys and it appears to deteriorate so rapidly.....when trying to remove the remaining lacquer how is it that this literally is the toughest thing on earth!:x

nitromors didnt work too effectively after 2 hits so i now have had to break out the sand paper and have removed any remaining bits of lacquer from 3 of the 4 wheels and have gained a very smooth finish on the lips.

after i used all the sand paper i had working through grades i primered one with some of Upols finest acid etch primer as i am workin with bare metal, laid down 2 coats and its looking not bad at all! minus the blistered fingers i am rather pleased :D

planning on getting the final alloy down to the smooth stage and primering all of them tomorrow evening

a nice gunmetal will work well with the blue, what wheels are they?

never thought of gunmetal, would be kl to get someone to photoshop it for me

oh the wheels i have got are bbs rims off a E30 BMW not to sure what range?

i had a quote for top of the range air ride system fitted to a mk1 caddy i used to have Ravern quoted £1200

i had a quote for top of the range air ride system fitted to a mk1 caddy i used to have Ravern quoted £1200

That doesn't seem to bad, considering I got quoted well over £2000 from a different company, I will give them a shout and see what they have got to offer :)

aye 1200 seems very cheap :unibrow:

Chris....the bbs would look tasty gunmetal, but also white against the blue, it is the choice of champions after all!:D

you going powder coat or painting them yourself?

if it was 1200 i will book my car in straight away :-p

I'm feeling gunmetal :) maybe introduce a white lip??

I would have thought 1200 would be a simple FB set-up, not an all singing all dancing set-up! I would want FBSS all independent and digital management  Chris Peacock is running bagyard air ride on his rocco and its literally awesome, prob the best kit about!

I have stripped all the lips back to complete bare metal, masked up and managed to lay down 2 coats of primer, just walked in the door now.

began to scotch the centres but my fingers were crying for me to stop haha, but once they are keyed it paint time!

would it be advised to lacquer over the paint for durability?? any recommendations on which brand/type to use???

thanks

satin white would look awesome, you doing both lips and centers white or polishing the lips?

how they coming along?

  • Author

lips and centres painted...flip polished anything in winter, plus i think it should look pretty cool

3 centres left to key for primer then paint the lot, will take an afternoon!

tomorrows plans i think :p hope the paint shop is open to collect some satin paint.

thing is though i dont know whether to get candy white paint and then just a satin lacquer or just paint satin and run unlacquered?
