i have 30mm spacers for sale this thread is sick, loving the white mate and the refurb!

i need some spacers to replace the 20s i have but 30mm maybe over kill tbh 25mm max

laid down some paint tonight I just went for straight up candy white to match the body work in the end.

I went and got it mixed up at the local paint shop, and got busy....

I am worried from initial coat that the paint seems a slightly off hue I don't know if this is because its being laid down on a grey primer and I am really hoping it will come good after a flat and second coat. If not all my work has been done in vein. lol

i also picked up some VAG bolt cap cover which will tidy up things no end also!

the VW centre caps aren't staying but merely for pics.

the BBS ones i have ordered seem to be taking an absolute age to appear, they better not have got lost!

Does look a little primer coloured Chrispy. The far right centre on the first pic looks white though.

aye inside the spokes particularly and the bolt edges are light on paint emma.... Ididnt want to lay on too much at first and cause runs etc. the second coat should hopefully see a better shade!

what i do is I spray each wheel from 4 differant angles, as well as from above. So at an angle from 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock....and then a once over from above. Then u should get an even coat, even on the inside of the spokes!! The more thin coats you put on, the more deep the colour will be...obviously the first coat will seem a little faded, just like the above pics. lay down 2-3 more thin layers and it will look nice and candy white! A good thing to do its put a heater on in the room your spraying in....paint lays down better at warmer temperatures...

same here, I'm being really lazy! Need to get back to the french at tramont...not overly excited about it haha!! I am about the refurb though

pleased to say my 2nd cost looks mighty fine! much happier tonight, gonna wet sand them i think and get the finish smooth and apply a 3rd and final coat! nicked my mums revolving turntable she keeps salt and pepper etc on it and used it as a painting turntable!

what grade wet/dry would be best?

1200 wet.

I'd try and get 2000

i used 1400. paint flat paint flat untill you are finish is pimp

well i have finally finshed painting them

1200gritted them this afternoon and polished them up and they have come up rather well for a first attempt with a rattle can!

was gonna bolt them up but spent the last hour looking for my spline drive....i swear someone has moved it!

i thought i had put it one of those places that's there for safe keeping and now i canny remember where such a place is !

also gave the car a clean second one in 2 months so was looking a lil rough...

might do my wheels same colour as my car but i doubt it will have the same effect haha

quick qestion tho what do you use to lean your image wheels? and are they lacquered?

they were supposed to have a special ceramic clear coat on form IMAGE! meaning that simply a wash with soap and water would have them spanking and no need for polish!

BUT! Ihad a bit of an issue with some shite car wash spraying acid on them and learnt the hard way... it left them covered in milky marks about 18months since!

anyways...

the ribena stuff is bilberry safe wheel cleaner...my dishes are like a scabby dead donkey at the minute, so not been cleaned properly since april. they arent suitable for bare alloy i am told but fuck it!

all my cleaning gear i get from alex from elite car care on e38!

although i have had no issues i would be wary though phil used it on his bbs when he had just had them polished for the EK9 and it appeared to do them some harm apparently.

they are now coming of for a full refurb so not too fussed, and keeping them off the road til the winter has passed!

i had exactly the same problem about 6 months ago with my 03's...i told the car wash peeps not to do my wheels they went against my word and wrecked all for dishes so i got them to pay for them to be re-polished

oh right i see, i need to get hold of a product to clean my wheels other than a weak car shampoo solution, that like your Image wheels that are bare metal..

wht you got in mind for a re-furb, new colour? same here really, when i get my winters sorted gunna send my 03's away for a re-furb

neil, thats the wheel just offered up to the car on a wood block and the shot points up, so they wil sit slightly higher than that but if i can un seize my rear coilies i will drop it to look as good as near as that pic.... i wont lower the front more without the rear as it will look super demented!

get some plus gas and heat on them coilovers!

finally got my bbs caps through....only prb is they came in a damged goods bag from the post office! :-X

opened the bag to find 2 centre caps missing! so now i have to go through all the blag if claiming and getting some more delivered!
