well judging by what the guy said on SCN the engine was still on a standard turbo so hardly tuned, how can it be all about the engine with basically a remap? or was it polished bits left right & center?

The guy paid for the car, and he wrecked it. Yes it's a ballache if it was your pride and joy (I'd be gutted if I sold mine and this happened) but once you part ways with it the new owner could torch it in front of you for kicks if he/she wanted.

just for the record, revo isnt a re-map, its simply another running code stored on the ecu has the ecu has memory like a computer.... revo simply installs another running code and you use a switch on the OBD port to switch from stock to performance. i had it in my ibiza. its a 3 minute mod
