Eaton G40

Featured Replies

stupidly quick car and its not even mapped properly. no seatbelt + 200 + bhp made for an interesting ride.

i think the cheese bearings on its way out tho as it sounds like a hoover :-/

been abit absent as of late mostly redesigning this bad boy -

Rumours of the VAG Trophy 09 got me moist so i set off spending.

Since we last spoke -

Emeraldings!. Mapped badly by Steve PSD [who is a cunt might I add] so that needs to be sorted.

Had the PSD Eaton Kit off. Grabbed a few measurements and gave it all a quick once over, nods to JP for the high temp paints etc

After some overly spirted driving my gearbox gave up the ghost. Off to Derby where after lots of cider, green and several hilarities we fitted a new gearbox. Turned into a mammoth 2 day affair as you need to take the subframe off. Which meant you need to take the exhaust off.

Being down 60/40 with the subframe means its 2,000 mile existence has been a painful one

Am going to put this subframe on my GT and get one of the others if I go ahead with this VAG Trophy. Too much of a ballache if I am killing boxes on a regular basis

Karlos Haylewoods colour coded the rear plinth *doths cap*

Then some Berg Cup goodness 8-) I began to re-shape them as they don't come with the best of finishes. Few Blemishes etc are to be expected and they are going to be tweaked ovr christmas. Got a quote for £500 a set made up in Carbon Fibre which is tempting but pretty dam pointless

thats a mk3 polo bumper

Whoops, yes, now that you mention it

Seen a lot of Bergrenn-prepped mk1 & mk2 Polo's (just a small drive to Germany or Luxemburg from my place) and most of the times mk2 Polo's with the wide arch kits have mk3 Golf front bumper on them, took my conclusion of the pictre a bit too fast :?

Still though, picutre looks the s e x !!!

looking good giorgio!

that polished outlet looks mint - I'm building myself one at the minute which is fun - BUT i do have an empty garage at the minute :smirk:

so it shouldnt take me long.

want to buy an engine start button? - I've got one of those richmond ones (got the red ring around it) looks racey as f*ck and would probs suit you are motor - was guna put it on the rallye but changed my mind,

lol y you say that?

did you not see Eeekie's for sale thread????

if not id go read it!

Theres a Berg cup Fiat with a mk3 Polo bumper, done in Martini colours, bound to have seen it on the net/mags!! 200bhp in a Polo gotta be an excitin ride, I'd love that kinda power in something that light.....

forgot to add, whining roots ftw

Good bump :smirk:

Afternoon folks. My supercharger went pop a while ago and I never got round to fixing it. After a busy summer I have managed to machine up my new supercharger and track down new bearings, belts etc. Pics to follow when I can find get some more b82rez.

Pop? Wasn't a seal failure by chance? Still need to order one for mine.

Do you mind me asking where you got the berg cup arches from?

oi bitchtits, get me some pictures of your boot and if its not a complete skankwhore then you can have the one off my mk3

Erm update as per request.

Did a bit of work over Christmas.

Thanks to Kiz I have now got the whole assembly perfectly aligned. But the rad on the Gaylander finally gave up as I was towing the G back to its resting place. Where the G is in this pic is where I finished changine the rad. In the snow. Lying on the floor.

Image058.jpg

But all that ends well ends in a BBQ

Image060.jpg

I am in the middle of tracking down a bearing that will last in an eaton kit. They are either not up to the rpm of the eaton or too wide to fit.

Strengthened up the existing bracket.

Decided on the new paint scheme

Wasted some of my life

Assembly_Pic.JPG

I am 100 miles away from my G and my current car is a pain in the ars.

My charger seems abit dry but i put that down to the oil seal. which bearing died?

  • 3 weeks later...

if you want that car mapping properly then send it to a guy called dave walker, he has a feature in practical performance car every month he's supossed to be the best there is

just a thought :-D

dave walker mapped a g40 turbo i am aware of... and its melted two engines since!!!

And he did my base map for me - which pinked like fuck on boost, so I had to get the laptop out 5 miles out of Watton to take some timing out the map. The guy is his own biggest fan, surprised that East Anglia can contain his ego.

hahahahahaha thats well funny!

if i was going to have mine mapped id get down to "race shack" they dont fook about and iirc have europes biggest dyno

Have just done it myself, only used Emerald in the first place because it was near where I was living at the time - and cheaper than hiring any other localish dyno for several hours! Still not had a chance to do my high boost map yet, only mapping I've done recently has been G40 Digifant stuff.
