it is powder coated but I want to reweld bits of it and add things so it has to be painted.

Easiest way is white hammerite to match the interior. Although tempted to paint it same as the outside for general pimpness

safety devices

If I eventually get a cage made for the Polo I am going to trim it with the same material as the headlining up top, then spray the rest to match the exterior paint....or so the plan goes.

safety devices nice buy how much you pay for it?

good work so far giorgio, you've deffo been keeping busy, are you going for mk3 or mk4 rear calipers?

Good work dude!

Its not a complete cage, a few things missing but I paid whats its worth.

I have yet to have had the need to properly test the brakes but from what I have seen they seem pretty good. Nice initial bite and have yet to experience brake fade coming from 100+ to a near enough stop. Not going to spend hundreds of pounds on calipers, discs, cables, bias valves etc just for the sake of it. Dot 5 brake fluid is sitting on the shelf and I haven't renewed the rear shoes or the front discs yet so my current set up does have abit more to give.

You got any events/days you want to be ready for, or not?

Making good progress!

Been at uni so haven't had the chance to do anything to the car. Although I got spending.

So far we got -

Got a alloy battery tray off the bay.

Battery cut-off switch. Paid 99p and I got what I paid for. Not the best quality but will do for now.

An Innovative LC-1 Wideband Sensor should be heading in my direction as we speak. Mainly to keep an eye on the AFR, but will also be the beginnings of Emerald and to get me abit more involved in whats going on.

LC_1.jpg

Also picked up a Palmtop so I can run a AFR gauge via bluetooth.

Came with a fancy keyboard that folds in 2. No real purpose in the car world but at least I can browse the web 8-)

The plan is to run something like this. With the ability to link it up to a computer for a proper look

Also got my hands on this bad boy. Completely mint, brand spanking new 8-)

And finally I got a digital air inlet gauge. Not too sure where I can mount it as I don't have a dash but when I make my new half-dash it will be housed along with all the other gauges I have temporarily mounted.

oooh goodies 8-) , and you so know your gonna be watching porn while driving the nurburgring

Thanks to will and his mum these bad boys turned up 8-)

Am on the look out for a pair of mint condition struts if anybody has them knocking about.

Still moaning at PEC to get back to me on the fitting kit for the roll cage.

Been a little preoccupied trying to sort out the piece of shit golf. Also spent a few days fixing a transit flat bed :-( . Borrowed it to pick up a mates car to move into one of my garages. Alternator belt snapped that was fixed and off we went. Only for the ratchet in the clutch cable to go.

But got cracking with the G...

Roll cage gubbins welded in next week, emerald the week after, remap the week after that. And somewhere in all of that I need to find insurance

wicked work dude 8-)

looking good giorgio, cant believe how relatively quickly this has gone, about a qaurter of the time mines taking :(

Just a quick heads up from some people in the know..

The innovate widebands are apparently a bit wank.

Send it back and get a PLX devices one.

They don't spend as much on marketing, but spend more on producing a quality product.

Innovate had a dodgy batch of the LC-1, which they seem happy to replace from what I've read online. Had some grief with mine, but mainly because I upgraded to the latest software which fooked it all up - that and the fact that it recalibrates itself whenever you plug the sensor back in, which is wank if you're trying to do it with the engine running!

Follow the installation instructions, use the software on the CD supplied and you should be fine.

progress has been slow. Did plan on gettign a friend to finish painting off the car but he let me down. Decided to give it a go myself and it didn't go too well. This is how it ended up after primer. Decided to do about 6 layers of primer just so I can practice as this is the first time I picked up a spray gun.

11052008971.jpg

11052008972.jpg

Looks good from far although I ended up with little specs of paint everywhere. They come off with 1200 grit and leaves it smooth like a baby's ars but its taking ages.

As for the LC-1. The one I am getting is second hand and has been working for a while so I assume its fine. Also got one well sikkk dump valve. Dread to think the noise this car is going to make :unibrow:

nice progress i am dreading starting mine!
