ye i was thinkin coil related, but i've changed it, no difference, plus apprently coils will just die. its running MSD ignition which works well and has no hook up on temperature, grr!! yep brand new head, was skimmed, pasted in valves etc. seems to get good compression. its straight as a die, new gaskets everywhere, metal H/G etc.

the smell of fuel etc just makes me think its the carbs, is throwing way to much in, people came up to me when i had it runnin sayin ye there over fuelling bad from the smell of unburnt fuel lol, few peeps said that the emulsion tubes wear after years of use, the needles batter away at them and their diameter i guess gets larger, throwin more fuel past the needles when you try and rev.

i've bought some R1 carbs for silly dollar ( was desperate lol) and a starter so should be with me before the weekend, ideal's!!

and the red top, lol ye i was the same geez, been on the cider for way to long haha! full redtop, 99k on it, elecky prob.

not lookin silly dollar if you giv us a hand pullin it out.

i found a bog bro's write up in PDF on chuckin R1 carbs on an XE, so will just follow that. woo!

hmm sounds like you've ruled it down to the carbs then. Get those R1's on and all will be awesome i think! you'll have to block the air jets, pretty simple though.

i'll definately give you a hand getting the engine out, just name a place and time :D

i'll give you a pm a bit later on... gotta rush now as food is ready!

cheers dude! 8-)

awsome geez, i found this PDF and it doesn't mechion owt on the air jets, and its written by bogg bros, well vaux mag i guess have a read tis quite good:

http://www.totalvauxhall.co.uk/resources/t...4.tech60697.pdf

cheers for the help aswell been ideal, having someone whos actually done it aswell is deffo a help.

ye well i'll give you a shout on the olde feckbook!

just rang up BOGG, and they said its only the R6 that need the air jet blocking, but the needle circlip to the central position, drill to around 1.8-ish and wind out the mixture out 3 turns. woop!

oh and someone buy thos dam motor before i sell my bikes and have it!

hi there sorry to bother , but does anyone has the inlet flange template for my vw polo 6n 1.6 8v AEE engine , that could send me , for me to make my inlet and put the carbs working.

kind regards

Epic bump. You would be better off making a new thread in the technical forums.

Yeah, five years ago is a while with these things, not sure he's still around, the 'guest' ammendment in his title isn't looking positive, tbh.

I'm in great support of people using the search function instead of just creating a new topic, though. So i'm happy to direct to the FAQ section at the top of the 'Engines, transmission & exhaust' section of the club polo forums. There, you'll find plenty of topical subject on the matter, very useful and tutorial some of it, sort you out with everything you need to get you running.

I have an AEE base plate for this purpose which was laser cut... I was going to make a mani up for some spare CBR 600's I have with a pump and sell a complete setup

the thing is that I'm studying mechanical engeneering, and i was trying to save some time and euros, llol, but if can use one tool of one of the teachers, which is a laser scan ill make a new 3D template and send it to you guys, although i don't npromisse but ill try. cheers

ps: by meaning template i was talking about a cad file or something, because it would be eseast to make it 3D and because have access to one 3/4/5 axel machine to make my own flange
