And upping the driving age to 18 will only cause more illegal driving. Not gonna stop anything, it just means more young people on the road who haven't even sat a driving lesson, let alone passed their test.

I dont think that making insurance crazy expensive and stuff like that is good idea though.

Raising the age is all that will work. I would not be saying this if I did not have my licence though.....

what i reckon is a good plan is that learning to drive is kept the same but for your first lets say 3 yrs your are retested then after the 3yrs the retest will be every ten yrs

i like the restricted idea...

i had to go through two tests to get my motorbike licence and a theory test on top of that... then restricted to 33bhp for two years (even though 33bhp on a bike is stil alot quicker than most cars)

i think something simular should definatly be done to cars, restricted via power to weight of course... i think it would change peoples attitude...

You could still pass at 17, even if what the Daily Mail (oh what a highly reliable source) says is true.

Learning to drive IS becoming harder now though. A mate of mine passed her theory yesterday and said she got 48 on the main guestions. I'd no idea it had gone up from 35 to 50. I only passed my theory in 04.

I had way more fun with my Polo on varous 145s and 155s than I have in my Golf with 185s, 195s and even 215s on one occasion

the age stuff is all rubbish!!! i av heard this since i was 15! and i will be 17 next week and i hear nothing about the age go up to 18!
