Thanks for the nice comments, I'm getting better day by day my back is a bit better I don't have to have the dressings changed every day now either. :) Had my stitches out my head, still got some mega bruises going on- lots of diffferent colours.

Don't worry I will be at polo show for sure, anyone who replied to this thread is entitled to a slice of birthday cake.

I'll be in a mk1 of some shape or another hopefully. :)

Reading this thread has put me into perspective. Just got my radio stolen from my car last night but thinking about it was lucky they didnt take anything else.

Seems you're a tough cookie,Charlie - thats such a nasty thing to happen,its harrowing. I've done roadside repairs and its scary. I'll think twice before doing another,now. You've got a great attitude,keep it up - eat well and rest well,much like myself when i got ran down in february,and it'll all seem to heal quick considering.

Thanks...yeah pretty damn lucky doesn't bear thinking about ifs and buts. Yeah the cake will be huuuge, last year's was massive so I'll just get 2 this year.

Cheers,yeah its impressively solid. And I've stripped it to a bare (but still glazed and partially wired) rolling shell,already. Sitting in the hollow panelwork today reminded me what biscuit tins they are. But i believe a feeling of vulnerability makes people drive safer - something lacking in the simulators of today.

Good to hear that this truely unfortunate accident hasnt harmed you or anyone seriously, or ,even worse, caused a loss.

I've had my unfortunate life experience with a car crash, in which someone very dear to me was lost and i, myself, was seriously injured - this was over 5 years ago now.

Just a bit of advice from my book: mishaps like this make you stronger, use it as experience in future situations.

Glad you're OK Charlie, and thanks for the lesson. I think maybe we can all learn from this.

Regardless of the fact that we all like to be able to fix things and do it ourselves, sometimes it just isn't worth the risk.
