Can't think of much worse things which could have happened to it. It's a slow way to go. Hope it doesn't mess your exams up too much.

blahhhh i still cant kinda believe it myself, its like when your a kid and your ball goes into the road, your helpless to go save it cos youll get merked by a truck so you just watch it and wait for it to make its inevitable demise. that could be a cat.

i phoned the fire brigade as soon as, and after the woman asked me for all my details i was telling her she needed to hurry up as my baby was on fire, then i had to clarify that it wasnt actually a baby on fire :(

fire engine took about 10 minutes and i just had to watch the car burn away, from a fire that was relatively small to begin with and could have easily being tackled by shutting off the fuel and spraying with an extinguisher for a full on raging fire in about 5 minutes.

i ran across the road as soon as i saw the flames to get a bucket of water from me neighbours house who also has a mk1 golf and by the time id filled up the bucket and stepped out of the house the flames were raging inside the cabin through the air vent in the scuttle tray.

even looking at the pictures they look fake, its only seeing the burnt out wreck on my drive that brings it home.

thanks any way to everyone for the kind words and support its most appreciated.

that musta hurt man :(

watching the poor thing waste away like that...i'd just stand there crying if it was me

good luck with your exams tho, a good education will buy u a better mk1 ;)

That car was immense saf. Need any help then just give pikeytech leeds a shout, we'll all be there fo sho. I'llhave plenty of man hours to share with you over this summer if needed mate!

Just calls for even bigger and better things, especially if your insurance give you back what its worth in component parts.

Words just can't describe Saf. I'm thoroughly gutted for you. When you phoned I simply couldn't believe .

All the best mate. I know it's little consellation after much hard work, but atleast you're still here to tell the tale. Any help you need, its here as and when you want it, just give us a shout.

K.

Thats a bummer dude!!

I'd stand there and cry if mine went up in flames, and thats just some standard MK3.

Was looking at the fire extinguishers in Halfords today, next time i go there I'll be getting one.

Good luck with the insurance!

OMG dude!, thats shocking, least your ok tho mate, cuda bin worse.

Saf, I've only just caught up with the events of the last few hours, so sorry to hear about project muppet! Saw the pictures first on Dubclique and my expression sort of went from :| to :-o to :shock: to :-(

On the bright side at least you yourself are OK and no-one was harmed or anything like that.

Gutted for you.

Been following the build of this car since day 1 man, really sad to see the poor muppet like this, you put so much time and effort into it, got a lot of respect for that!

Glad your ok though mate, and good that your getting Beena back!

:(

 NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :crybaby:

Dude, thats fucked up, no fucking way do you deserve that

When i opened this i had that feeling of hopeless-ness, like when someone close to you tells you the news that one of their loved ones have died, i didnt know what to say/do, just felt propa gutted :-(

Whats going on?!, in the space of 2 weeks 2 sound as fuck people have had a Physcological battering with their form of independence/transport being visiously taken from them :-( life can be a right kick in the bollocks

I'm just glad you managed to get out and away from that dude, dont know what i`d do without my friendly stoner  :-)

If you need anything mate, just ask  anything big or small, help with the next wip, lifts for parts/to places, hell even a delivery of KFC and doughnuts ;)

Keep smiling man, as much as you dont want to now I'm sure, but you need to stay possitive

haha the offer of kfc and donuts made me smile :D

its alright like i wouldnt say iim upbeat about it but I'm dealing with it pretty well. I've always taken bad news well because to be honest there is fuck all i can do to change the circumstances so its not worth dwelling over, well it is worth shedding a tear or two for the old girl,

phoned up tomo who sold it to me and he was mortified as well, didnt even know what to say.

Opened this thread smiling ready to see some pics of you red eyed next to shonky looking BBQ.

I am very sad for you as i don't know what i would do in the same situation. The fact you took pics and come out with your chin still high shows real character.

Really gutted for you mate but you aren't hurt and life goes on :-)

If you need anything mate, just ask  anything big or small, help with the next wip, lifts for parts/to places, hell even a delivery of KFC and doughnuts ;)

Seconded. We is here bro 8-) Deffo KFC and doney time when i come up. Whats going on on Thurs/Fri?

thats ridiculous, i clicked on the thread thinking there was gna be a ghetto bbq like at a polo show a couple of years back, a bbq in the wheel well. I think you took it a bit far this time saf, no need to set fire the whole car lol.

on another note that's bad, your monster thread was amazing, and then this happens. It's scary how quickly cars go up in flames tho. Good to see you got out unscathed tho, cars can always be replaced

without sounding like a noob, why take out the battery?

Edited by DubGarry

Read the posts, the battery was a spare in the passenger footwell.
