the rat look...

Featured Replies

If you purposly make your car rusty then thats not "rat look", thats just "making your car rusty on purpose to try and get the rat look because its "in" an cool at the minute-look"

But if you like that then

And matt black doesnt mean its rat either, its just matt black, its a paint colour/finish

A VW with mint bodywork flyin down the road is better!

I'm lovin the rat look at the moment. Is it,though? The 23yo daily. And looks like it. Rusty front valance,rattle-can'd roof, light grey battered bodykit, rattle can'd steel wheels without centres - and I'm sure de-badging is supposed to include filling the holes in the bootlid afterwards.. I've not even washed it since i rebuilt it. I did an oil change,though.. I think that's a true rat.

dont do the sanded bonnet thing, its so gay.

I believe you can lacquer it tho if you do to stop it rusting more.

There's loads of ratted 6ns up my way!

yep they look far worse in most cases than the surviving mk3 polos !!!

cant you laqure over the rust to prevent it rusting more. at least thats how i thought they managed to stop them rusting compleatly.

hammerite is pretty good I have found in a near as dammit colour

Yeah and i have a massive case of pod burn :crybaby::lol:

wait till you start getting speed holes in the car, although you could fake that too with an angle grinder and just go through the body panels.

dont "rat" a 6n!

manufactured rat looks shit, as said most do look wank unless they have a huge engine in it.

That actually does look shit

its part of a pair with a passat b5 estate. it looks fucking ace!

all these clean freaks not getting it...

I think they look shit. Once you get people thinking what the fuck why would you really want that on your car you know you've gone over the top.

I wouldn't call myself a clean freak I just think that merc looks shit

But, post up pics of the B5 if you've got any?

Personally I think if that merc was painted gloss black it would be stunning!

Exactly, you can hardly pimp hard and push drugs in that thing!

Wheels look good though

Keskin splits?

it was matt black, well certainally the b5 was, then changed to this.

no pix of the b5, they're on my other PC, but look for rs-tuning.hu (i think) an it may pop up...

it takes proper balls to do that to a merc... an imho it damn works, nothing like thinkin outa the box.

i get it, and i'm not a clean freak, but it still looks shit. its just a merc with a healthy slam, some nice rims and a fancy paint job.

as toby said, matt black paint on a tidy car does not make a car rat, just like spending shit loads on a fancy paint work to make it look like its rusty don't make it rat, in fact its the total opposite.

and don't disagree with me cause i'll just reply that you don't get it :lol:

at least this place has some sort of sense of humor...

this is gonna go down to personal opinion, but i reckon some cars look sick "ratted" when time an effort is put in to preserve what is already there an accentuate the rough edges, but most "oooh, i'm bored i dont have much cash, i'll just matt-black it" cars look crap.

rat-rods ftw!

some cars do suit being ratted, there is no doubt about that, but that merc is not in the slightest bit rat, it does look cool its just not rat.

BTW, here was my ''oooh i'm bored and i don't have much cash'' moment...
