They're OEM derived- so depends which car, off the top of my head I think the Hondas use independant rear suspension, I'm not sure about the other FWD ones, if you look back into the 90s (Golden age of BTCC) they're still stupdily quick on solid rear axles.

as far as i know, the majority are independent, the last cars to use beams were the astras apparently.

Anybody got a picture of that blue mk1 golf with indy rear suspension?

if you have any concept of trying to make it IRS its going to be very expensive and not guaranteed to be any good

New UK-Spec. CTR is solid rear beam I believe? The JDM version is fully independent, plus most of the older models too.
