I think all MK3> Escorts are hideous.

That RS Turbo certainly does look to be in very good condition - a credit to its owner(s), but I think they look gash. Oh how I hate the bodykit, the nasty, nasty CVH engine and the awful chassis. 80's chintz at its worst IMO. Almost as bad as a white Golf Cabriolet (with white hood)

MK1/2 Escorts are where its at. I absolutely love 'em, they can look the absolute business with very little cosmetic work. I wouldn't want a standard 1.1 Popular 4 door, but anything with a serious engine will do me.

Your mk2 is looking great as usual Danny. The title should of read, RS Turbo S1 content, my proper car and a car.

The guy gave me a spin in it, it didn't feel as quick as I had expected - it would certainly fly into triple figure speeds if it wanted to, but felt like it was too heavy or not torquey enough to accelerate likewise at slow speeds.

I dunno, it might just be the way turbo doesn't give you much on tap, you need to keep your foot down until it's got up and got dressed.

Yeah, agreed Danny. They're not that quick at all. I went in one in the mid 80's when they were new and I remember being very dissapointed even then. What I do remember though was the torque steer!

Some years ago when they were the "in thing" to own, there were some seriously modified ones around that had many thousands spent on engine mods with very big turbo's and making (reputedly) very big peak power figures. Hardly any were very quick at all in the real world. It was all lag then loads of boost/torque steer/wheelspin/bouncing off the limiter etc. Change gear and the same thing happened again. And in the next gear and so on.

BMW 2002 turbos are much like that from what I've seen, I watched one at knockhill a while back and it came on boost all of a sudden and tried sliding itself backwards off the track... Not progressive in the slightest!

I'd say they got it wrong with the Mk5 Escort, what a piece of crap lol

The Mk6 is no better

A little better lol, but ain't exactly hard to beat. Mk1-4 is where it's at though. All the RS Escorts are the best looking of the bunch

Nearly bought a S1 brand new, guy had paperwork out to sign, cash was ready under the bed at home, but I felt that some thing was missing couldn't put my finger on it and still can't today, so I walked out of the showroom.

Still a good looking car in it's day and has definatly got that "sporty look" and a nice clean one even thou it's not a VW you still have to admire.
