i think that there are a large sum of mk4 owners here, who have perfectly fine, rust free bodies!

I'm not just posting for the sake of it, I can speak from experience with 6n's

I have had a few in my time & have bad experinces with them all. Rot just seems to appear from no where & gets bad very quickly.

I am a true VW man through & through & I do have a little soft spot for the 6N's as I do think from a looks point of view they can look very nice quickly.

But again shame about the rot, constructive comments from me all the way.

It is unforunate that they suffer so bad from the rot.

Perhaps God looked down on them one day and said '6N, thou shalt rot with the fords'.......

i had a mk3 once that the front bumper iron thing was same complelty rusted thru was wierd rest of the car was solid as a rock.

oi nothing wrong with lupos :unibrow:to be fer mk4s i have notices can be either rust buckets or in mint or near mint condition

you really cant say mark4's are shit. because i bet 75% of the people on this forum own one... they will hunt us down and kill us and steal my breadvan. i only dont like mk4's because i must see about 90 of them every day. where as mine is the only one in my town in its colour :) i like being original.

but on a serious note. leave the rust for the fords not vws :(

As a general rule, owners of mk4's on this forum just can't admit that the mk4 is a rather poorly made car. Thet do rust more than other VW's of its age, and that is fact.

Dan, if I'm not mistaken, aren't those front light/slam panels left in matt black primer from the factory? Primer is never very durable without a topcoat to seal and protect it. That is an unusually bad example though by the look of it.

Not shit, just not well sealed to stop it happening. I see a white 6n round here and i'm surprised the lower part of the front bumper hasn't dropped of yet! Looks as though its been in a shunt tho which wouldnt surprise me.
