as its your first car and your probably pretty young i would say the best things are subtle styling mods, lowerage will cost you dear on your premium, quinny summed up some of the key areas you may wanna look at, bar that just tidy the car up and get it looking as presentable as poss, so when you have a year or two NCB you will have a very solid base of a car to either slam on its ass, or begin to play with engine modifications.

however once youve racked up a few years no claims bonus youll just realise its better to start off with a faster car as stock as itll be cheaper on the insurance than a heavily modded but less powerful car and probably more reiliable that a tuned car.

Give the car a good service too, as that will get the best out of whats currently in the engine, shitty spark leads, plugs and a crappy rotor arm will lose you some ponies, and drop the oil and change the filter for good measure as you probably dont know the last time its been done
