What gun you using and stuff?

gun was devilbiss gti with a 1.6 tip no filter

cant wait to see the finished product.

Did you strip the old paint first by any chance? or just literally spray straight over?

rubbed down with 240 grit then paint

woah  love that colour :p what wheels you getting for this?

painted steels to match the roof for now, maybe banded steels or ????

Looks like a really good paintjob, are you a proper painter, or just like to attempt stuff yourself?

Either way, I'm really liking this! :p

spent 2 years spraying furniture so i see things as big bits of furniture nw, no harder or easier

looks cracking, whose is the mr2 in the background?

Its the old mans MR2

WOW thats really nice.

I love these D.I.Y threads,

you done a good job with that.

two questions...

1st...did you only use 240 and 600 and then paint? no other grades?

2nd question, did you just clean the dust from the wet n drying off with water?

:-D

just used 240 inthe end as its only primer and then washed it after wet and drying and tacked and airlined off

mate, you got anymore pics of the mr2 looks just like the one my mate built, it isnt that one is it lol? with the veilside kit, and tv on the back?

edit,. sorry, car looks awesome mate, love the colour, have you considered banded steels? just a thought

nope all built buy my dad full kit, lights and paint all done at home

Awesome paint and colour is astonishing!

Love it!

i love threads like this, because you see them to start with, and someone has bought a bog standard mk4, with loadsa plans. you kinda think there talking shit. but then they suprise you and completely turn the look of the car around in a really short space of time lol. thats exactly what youve done, cant wait to see updates.

Such a cool colour keep it Matt if you get any stone chips you know how much easier it's gonna be to just to paint back over them :-D look forward to seein this at edition if you're heading up !

yep hit it with a brush and paint is all done :) wont be at edition as I'm doing action instead as I'm more an aircooled bioy at heart :) wouldnt mind getting to some shows next year in it though but who knows the way i go through cars might end up selling it by then :)

hopefully should be sorting the roof and wheels out soon ready for action although super low on funds :(

cheers spilz for that ;)

Ah shame man, could that type of finish of been done with matt spray paint or is the only way to get a decent finish with a air compressor gun?

i wouldnt wanna do a whole car with rattlers, i can imagine there would be areas where you put more paint on, and they would be shinier than others, leavin lines and shit. when its done with a gun you can hold it the same distance away from the car, and the spraying area is much bigger.

I've never sprayed with a compressor in my life, but i have watched pimp my ride.

true true pimp my ride is educating the masses :)

I have done a whole car with cans before although sore fingers and lots of cans later it looked ok, was red primer so didnt matter about the finish as it all drys itself to the same sort of colour. if you can then use a decent gun and compressor as its a whole bunch easier or hey come pay me to do it :)

man it would look so cool if you got a taxi sign for the roof whilst your waiting to complete the rest of the work 8-)

Loving the ideas you've got for the car as well dude, great to see more people having the balls to do something completely outrageous that isn't actually going to look shit.

Nice work man, keep it up.

taxi sign would b ace like a gutter mounted light up one :) yeah i never seem to feel the need to have a car the same as anybody else does :)

u the man will.

Peachy :D

love it, can i ask why have you got a week to get it done??

Some really sleek wheels like black Porsche D90's would work so well with this colour

i love this!
