I think that with the right nose down stance it can look mean without the badge, but I know what you mean, it's a kind of big open gap. My mate said the same thing about my car when I wanted to do the same to mine.

I think to fit in with the gloss black the mirrors may also have to go gloss black, or leave them blue but do the bases gloss black?
