The world is short of Electricians, my brother is an electrician and is never short on work and he earns lots!

I reckon with welding there's less scope on career prospects.

Full time architectural technician, paying taxes so that indy can go to uni :-p

I don't claim any benefits of any sort though! So it's my parents paying for me. Nor do I get any student loans :)

since when do tax payers money go to us uni students?? last time i checked we pay back our own loans and unis are, of a majority, private companies which dont get a lot of funding from the government and lets not forget that MOST students parents are tax payers and not on the doll. Anyone, like myself, whose parents pay more tax annually than most earn in a year i think can dip their hands into the 'tax pool' once in a while and hold heads high. unlike people that dont work.

this is a friendly environment and there is no need for comments like ones made by renegade.

gooooooo TEAAAM!

I hate to piss on your parade, but although you pay thousands towards tuition, you don't pay it all. Typically the government will pay twice as much again as your 3 grand tuition fees, more if you're studying a science-based course which has higher equipment costs.

Universities are not 'private companies' as you put it - Buckingham University is the only private uni in the UK - the rest are all significantly funded by public money, which comes from the Higher Education Funding Council for England & Wales (HEFCE) - (Scotland has its own arrangements).

'Infrastructure Engineer' for a Civil Engineering company.

Main activities:

1. Flood Risk Assessments as needed for planning applications etc. This sometimes involves hydraulic modeling of rivers and coasts.

2. Drainage design for new developments of varying forms and sizes.

Is it sad to confess I quite like my job? :paranoid:

Fair play for you liking that .. I worked for Severn Trent Water for 4 years ina Civil Engineers project role designing the works after you guys showed us the problems after doing some hydraulic modeling .

Diddnt really get involved with infraworks unfortinatly .
