Uh, mate, thats not rat at all. In fact thats one of the cleanest cars I've seen in ages. It just has a rusty bonnet, thats all.

my favourite rat car

its a clio williams, no added rust, just worked with what he had and its got the engine to go with it

its not the best pic of it, it makes it look clean lol

its owned by a bloke called winston, he loves his VWs but he love clios alittle bit more, its called the illiams (roly on here could back me up on this)

its covered in stenciled and rust, but none of this full body rust, and extremely stripped interior

its got nothing to do with it not being a vw, if you had posted a pic of a polo of the same year and condition i'd still think you were deluded.

if you'd like to try to prove me wrong then feel free but putting stencils on a car does not make it a rat, and as for the rust you described it sounds like the cars in the same condition as most cars of that age.

i never said it was hugely rat, i just said it was my favourite "rat" car, I'm not into rat stuff but this one i like as its not gone too far, i dont like the "added" rust, its not needed on a car of that age and country of origin, it can rust itself

i was just saying in my opinion thats what rat is about, tatty shell and tidy engine

i never said it was overly rat, there not the best pics because they are from a magazine feature and its been polished up

obviously everyone has different takes on rat and other styles, i see it as iv said and not like the corsa or astra and working with what you have. anyway is thats what rat is all about? budget cars?

well not really mate, proper rats do have a lot spent on them, as polomon says what your mate has is a budget build, most cars on the road of that age (and a lot newer) will be showing the same kinda body condition, but that doesn't make them rats, just cars with tatty bodys. i think there seems to be a lot of confusion these days between rat look cars and just poorly maintained cars (be it body work, mechanical or both). it seems like some people just claim a car is rat as an excuse for not doing some thing right or wanting to be in the in crowd. doing a proper rat takes a lot of ball's, i see you mentioned rolo earlier so i'll use him as an example, when he does a rat he never cuts corners and always goes balls out with them (just look at his mk3 golf for proof of that), and always finds new ideas to chuck into the mix. thats what makes a rat, not just doing a few things on the cheap.

i never mentioned rolo, i said roly, as he will know the car I'm on about. i understand what you are saying and i agree but i dont understand chucking loads of money on a rat car, i would only do rat if it was half way there or the body was already full of the stuff. the bodywork on my polo is far from good but i wouldnt call it rat. i know it can take a fair amount of money to keep a car ratty but i wouldnt be able to justify it

i dont think the corsa is rat tbh, its just a really shit corsa (i have nothing against corsas)

see the idea behind rat cars was to have mint engine and running gear and stuff (a lot of them fully restored beetle's and the like but leave the shell as it was or make them look wores), and thats where the money goes, its a matter of taste tbh, but i think they look so much cooler than just a shinny car tbh.
