mk1 jetta 12mth MOT 2 mth Tax

well where to start with this one...

I never and mean never thought i'd be writing this "for sale" ad, its taken over two years to find what is my dream VW.

it seems stupid to then be selling it so soon doesnt it. sadly neither my good lady or my kids see this gorgeous little jetta as I do, and secondly we're downsizing to one car to combat the annoying urban panic sweeping the country that is the credit crunch ::)

and no matter how much I love this car her indoors will never use this as the familys "daily" so sadly she's going so soon after finding her.

about the car:

She's a mk1 VW jetta

1.5 petrol with manual choke

bodywork i would give 8 or 9/10, she isnt concours but to say shes 25yrs old the paint is good and theres only the odd rust bubble.

manual steering with a genuine wolfsburg wheel

all the creature comforts of basic vw motoring, ie no sunroof, no electric windows and no PAS.

if you're looking at this ad maybe with a view to buying then you already know what these little beauties are.

huge boot space too

she has been given only saturday this week a fresh mot so will come with 12 months MOT. this to be fair has added to my downfall in ownership with my good lady, I bought the jetta with only several weeks mot on her, and at test time she failed on the following:

brake pipes corroded

3 x small patches of welding on the rear sills

1 x rear shock leaking

consider shes 25 years old I didnt think that was bad at all, the welding was on the rear sills and was genuinely no more than the size of a 10p, there was also a hole in the driver footwell, again same size. The brake pipes were all replaced in full and the rear shock also replaced.

I was chuffed it was only that, but as I'm not mechanically minded taking into account garage labour fees it was £350 I simply couldnt justify to the "get rid" argument from mrs.

She also comes with road tax until end of November 2008.

I have full V5 in my name

Imo the only area of concern is the passenger door, as with all the cars I've sold I actually put problem/rusty/worrying pics up too as I believe in being honest. The door has rust bubbles touched up on the bottom edges, check the pic and see what you think ?

The jetta was owned by an old chap down London way, he had her over 18 years and passed her back n forth through the family as and when needed and they all loved and cared for the little jetta, there is a mountain of paperwork covering every basic service requirement over the years. She received a replacement engine in 2004, the receipt is in the history to prove it. And she comes with nearly every old mot.

So in short this is a mega reliable useable classic VW, i haven't bought her to sell on because she's a shed as she's had all the mot work completed (although imo not much considering her age)

Basically I love old cars and she doesnt, times are hard and we're tight for cash as is everyone else, so dream cars will sadly have to wait til I either get a better job or more money somehow :(

anyways, enough waffle.....car is in daily use but can be viewed in Doncaster pretty much any time to suit serious interested parties. The price is £950. this to some may seem steep I dont know, but please bear in mind I've sunk alot of not readily available cash into her the past two weeks and I secretly dont want to sell her so absolutely will not be "bumping" this with daily reductions in price. These are getting rarer and rarer and only wish I could hang onto her.
