I need your advice

Hi there,

I am a complete newby to cars. I don't have too much experience with them or know what I am looking for and I'm completely on my own with it so I come to you. I'm looking to buy a Polo for my first car but I can't afford to spend much on it. I have found one though. Its a 'N' reg 1996 Polo with 97000 miles on the clock for about 500. Is this a bad deal?

Secondly the car has some damage. The owners gran backed into it when reversing dinting it, the dint was popped back out but it damaged the bodywork on the front left hand wing. She had cracked the paint and rather than paying for a full respray which he couldn't afford he patched it up with a similar colour to prevent rust but it doesn't look right. So I was wondering if it is possible and how complicated it is to replace the front wing?
