Hams hall

Featured Replies

Well said to be fair, McLovin is speaking from experience, i doubt anyone would try and act big after that sorta experience.

there's a time and a place as Jon says, alot of us might put our foot down now and again, i seem to stick to the speed limit, apart from on motorways etc, but usually dont slow down for corners cause i love handling lol..

but racing around public roads, making fun of crash videos where people could of been killed, and sending a message out to police to mind their own, is just irresponsible and childish.

the only way to get things like this to work are to get the police on your side. They were at a show i was at recently and didnt give out 1 ticket, instead looked at the cars and talked to the owners about modifications etc.

people who glorify street racing have most likely never been touched by tragedy and i will never be associated with people who take such risks. tracks are for racing.

whos up for a go slow at hams hill?

It'd be funny to cruise at like 30mph  though i dont fancy risking some clown plowing up the arse at nearly 3 times that speed.

lol i know the owner of that vts that crashed the corsa that hit him just drove off and didnt exchange details.... anyways the saxo is a write off so he's bought another vts which is much better.

Is he gonna learn to drive properly?

Dunno mate lol he says he's not going up there again because of what's happened

Right then McLovin where do i start? You seem like a straight talking opinionated chap and unlike jon's i appreciate your argument, that said though not once have i glorified hams hall unless you interpret "pretty good night" as "fuckin mint geez! rammo on a saturday and sunday night, midlands version of the nurburgring! Get yourselves up there!". Fair enough i go up, watch some sorted motors have a thrash (did anyone mention the amount of VW's that show up?) and then go home, never saw a crash up there - no harm done.

Next, a 27 year old using a polo forum is not sad. However a 27 year old who uses a polo forum to merely voice his own biased opinion and start laying down the laws of life - contrary to it's relevance to the matter at hand (in this case the question "anybody been up hams hall lately? is it any good?" - is sad i'm afraid. I base this point entirely on the fact that when i'm 27 i won't be doing anything of the sort and can safely say 100% of my mates won't be either. But i suppose that's just the way it is, life would be boring if everyone had the same attitudes with no confliction, no confrontation and total conformity.

Now i'm not one to play the personal card, but on the topic of death i had a mate who i grew up with die in a house fire a few months ago. He was 19, pissed and stoned out of his face and a cigarette burned the house to bits with him inside.

It happened. He took a risk and paid the price. That doesn't mean to say i need to go forcing it into the ears of every person who ask the question "is smoking a bad thing?" Would i say smoking in the home while pissed is a bad thing? F**k no, accidents just happen occassionally. Same as you, you were driving, you crashed, you deal with the consequences. You wanna relate it to a topic then fair do's, just don't expect an oppostionless argument. I haven't been tarred with the same brush as you and i think you would have given a very different response before your accident.

No offence to you McLovin but you said earlier that you've never been up hams hall but you've watched a few youtube videos that make it look like saxo's on ice. You know nothing about the driver of the car yet you automatically say "he only goes up there because he would get shown up on the strip or track". A fair few motors turn up with their cars number still on window from track events etc.

As for Jon i'll reply to your response when you put an actual case to me. You're the dick for even coming back with such stupid reasoning for your argument. I would love to see you try and close it down like the one man army you obviously are. you wouldn't stand in the road long or at least you wouldn't be standing UP in the road long.

Enjoy a long and fulfilling life jon and don't forget to wish death on as many people as you can cos' lets face it you're no teenager anymore.

what has McLovins age got to do with anything?

having fun in your car is one thing but street racing is just plain gay

Ask any racer, any real racer. It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning's winning.

haha, you are mate died. His own fault and at least it was his fault. Some innocent person may be killed by one of those twats driving like they do which won't be the fault of the innocent person who just happened to be there. When will you get that fact in your thick boned head?

Calling me a dick or just generally insulting people on here ain't a clever idea really. Hide behind your keyboard why don't you!

If street racings such a good idea, why don't the police shut the road so the knobs can have fun?

I'm not a one man army. There's many people who'll agree with me. I'll always voice my opinion as that's my right. At least I've paid up to do so.

How could you possibly argue with two people who have more life experience than you? also they have been there and done it in one persons case (mclovin).

I think a large proportion of members on this site HATE boy racers that drive like twats. this is why whenever the subject comes up the topic quickly swings towards "some splitarse in a VTS etc etc" "they're all dicks". I for one agree with them as well.

As outlined in the video response, i pay my tax payers money for some IDIOT with clearly NO trackday experience in a saxo to crash in to a lampost and then me have to pay more tax in order to repair it?

Youre actually saying its a good night? its two roundabouts and a hell of a lot of shit drivers who given the chance of a track day would propablly drive about with their sub blaring and one hand on the wheel. How is it good to see a fool in a car go round the same two roundabouts all night? i wouldnt have a problem but its a two lane roundabout from what i can see and every 5 seconds theres at least 4 cars all going the same way around the roundabouts about 2cm from each others bonnets and boots.

I am pretty sure that anybody who drives on trackdays to a good standard would never ever be seen at an illegal street racing event. not a decent human being anyway.

This topic needs to be locked as nobody wants to know about hams hall as the majority of this forum would not care about a saxo going up and down a dual carrige way.

Thankyou. Plainly i'm not a one man army!

I have over 10years driving experience and i still dont think i'm a good driver at times. half those tosspots wouldnt be able to react quick enough if something went wrong and this is the reason when you type in hams hill in youtube, alot of crash videos come up. I'll PM admin and get this locked before i say/do something i regret!

Exactly. They could be the nicest cars in world, VW's, with skilled drivers at the wheel, who cares?

The fact of the matter is, its illegal, and its putting innocent people's lives at risk, and there's fuck all cool about that.

Next, a 27 year old using a polo forum is not sad. However a 27 year old who uses a polo forum to merely voice his own biased opinion and start laying down the laws of life

well... isn't that the whole point of forums?

and as for...

No offence to you McLovin but you said earlier that you've never been up hams hall but you've watched a few youtube videos that make it look like saxo's on ice.

i said nothing of the sort, what i did say was..

my mate used to go up there quite a lot, from what he's told me its full of people with attitude problems driving like twats, don't really sound like my kinda thing tho so i've never been up there.

i didn't get involved in this argument till a lot later on when people were banging on about how it was a good night out up there and saying the police should stay away as they are not hurting no one (or words to that effect).

yeah, not hurting anyone - yet! I might go to personally thank all these people for the following:

1) hiking up my insurance premium

2) giving anyone in a modified car a bad name

3) wasting the police's time instead of ridding the country of all the crime

Look this happens weather you like it or not. you dont like it dont go. you do go and every person that does go should realise the risk in going to these places. things happen. for all i no i could get run over by a bus tomorrow. heard of the nuneaton bermuda crash? my mates where in that car as one racer pilled into them at over 70mph! I'm both with vwmk3jon and eurosmith as they have both valid points. personally i go up to hams hall not every weekend just on the off chance and there is some serious cars out there and it is good to see them go round in stead of paying over the odds just to see them go round a track! its like dowloading music and copying cds its illegal but people still do it but has no life threating situations but you get my point. BUT there are certain people out there that carnt drive to save there life and try to show off infront of people and cause problems because of their inexsperience and they are the people that bring the scene down and cause these "horror" storys. like i said things happen but for some people its a social thing aswell. Yes it is dangerous but its been mentioned that its on a public road. these roads are public but hardly used and if are are used by lorrys. its out of the way. people arnt that stupid else they would be racing on the M1 lol. But seriously dont banter. if you want to check it out go and do it just have your wits about you and dont try nothing stupid even if its just going to the bassets pole maccys there are serious cars to look at and nice vws aswell!. if you dont then dont simple as. as for your insurance its the people that ride round with no insurance hiking your premiums up not "racers". as for wasting the polices time i thought that was what traffic police is for? again I'm both with you as you have both valid points. please lock this thread people should no it still happens. peace

Fair enough, if you dont like it dont go, and we wont, but (not aimed at jaydubber) dont come on here raving about how good it is and posting up crash videos.

Its not a matter of 'if you dont wanna risk crashing dont go'.. what about normal drivers that might be passing through as a bunch of cars are doing 60 round an island feet away from each other?

Also it IS these people that hike up insurance premiums. uninsured drivers affect prices in general, as you'll find its people of all ages that do that, whereas the ammount of young drivers driving like lunatics and speeding, gives insurance companies a reason to up premiums for young people.

And it doesnt matter how good the car is, you could spend 5 figures on the performance and handling, that doesnt mean its ok to test it on public roads..

''you're under arrest mate for speeding and dangerous driving''

''I've just spend 4 grand on a turbo conversion, what am i meant to do, park up and not see how fast i can drive?!''

''fair play mate, on your way..''

sorry i wasnt having a rave lol. i didnt say if you dont want to risk crashing not to go i just said have your wits about you. sorry to sound harsh but i couldnt give a fuck if anyone crashes aslong as it aint into me thats fine. I'm with you on that spending loads of money on a engine/car to make it go faster but people do it. and tbh i dont think someone would put a 20vt or vr6 or even a vr supercharged engine in their car to sit at the speed limit all the time theres just no point. plus people have got to handle the cars which some carnt. normal drivers dont pass through this part of the "public road" its some what of a industrial road more than public road. J27 was dangerous street racing on a public road. everyone giving it as much should get as much if its crashing or getting pulled its all on you.

Na i know you werent raving about it like..

My only point is that its illegal and dangerous..

Couldnt care less if its a chavved up Corsa or a minted VR6 Golf

Well said mate, and fair do's for the valid points i couldn't agree more. At least you seem to have knowledege of the area and what goes on - Hence the reason you replied. But I just wanna clear a few things up:

To all those who have never actually been to hams hall - leave the discussion because you have no valid input. You know may know what street racing is/ or have an opinion on the legalities of it due to occurances in the past, but in this case have no first hand experience apart from the youtube clips and second hand tales from friends.

Hams, hall is a public road but it's situated on an industrial estate, lorries are a regualr occurance along the straights which people drive on (believe it or not "racers" do drive normally too) but there are no families in MPV's.

It is illegal which is something i didn't mention. Speeding on public roads IS illegal for all those who assume i forgot this. As for dangerous, it's as dangerous as you care to speculate. Motorsport is dangerous - type in "racing crash" on youtube and watch a few. Looking at those videos how dangerous is racing in general? Again it's as dangerous as you want it to be. I'm not condoning it, but as i said in first post "it's a good night up hams hall".

I don't understand why threads such as this run for so long as it was a simple question in the first place and i don't really want to be known as a web bitch or even replyin to such topics. It seems like the only people generally narked by this thread are the people who have never been to hams hall.

As for jon, you really are an absolute flippin' gent, and i mean that in the fookin worst sense. As for my "thick boned head" i'm educated believe it or not and i won't stand for people like you talking down to me. The reason i fix car's for a living is not because i wanna become a rocket scientist but because i've put my brain to good use and i'm able to understand the fundamentals of an automobile and advance from there. Therefore it's thick people like me who fix your car when it all goes wrong by the sounds of it: quote "you know about as much about mechanics as the queen". Listen to yourself, you call me a dick and wish death on me, then laugh at my dead mate, then contradict yourself by calling me a keyboard warrior? Then comes the fact that you're actually 8 years my senior! This is literally unbelievable. I really hope to god you are 27 and have the balls of a man and i hope you come for a chat at the rolling road day in january cos what you've said is beyond being personal.

I hope there isn't many people about like you mate cos it's your type that will have us swinging from tree's again.

As for paying up to the forum. I appreciate this forum as much as the next fella and as it stands it's served every purpose i've ever asked of it. It could just could do without the mindless input of clueless post counters such as yourself.

Lock the thread and anyone with an unresolved issue should use a PM.

normal drivers dont pass through this part of the "public road" its some what of a industrial road more than public road.

Oh, BULLSHIT.

Of course its a "normal" road. It goes somewhere. It is used by the general public. Just because its not in the middle of a busy city doesn't mean it doesn't get used. And as its near an industrial area, I'd also suggest its being used by lorries, etc. As I mentioned earlier, there's an airport parking place up there too, and there are people going in/out of there all time of the day and night. I bet thats just what someone coming back from their holidays wants, an Evo in the face at 70 mph.

FFS eurosmith? youve gone from saying hams hall is a good night and arguing with some of the decent members on the forum who just stated their opinion to now saying your going to "have a word" with them at the RR day? thats surley a threat?

You start trouble at the RR day and we could be banned from using their Rolling road and also putting a bad name on the forum.

Hams hall is full of tosspots who drive round like cocks (FACT). its as dangerous as you care to speculate?. it DANGEROUS FULL STOP! so what if its not an MPV and instead its a truck? its still a truck and theres still a person driving it that could get hurt. You cant possibly continue this argument EuroSmith.

You will never become a rocket scientist if you believe such immature and dangerous activities are a good night out. You seem like a decent guy in all honesty by the way you ahve wroded your argument etc but your letting yourself down by contnuing this argument.

I find it hilarious that "jaydubber" claims thats what traffic police are for? so should we rename them cruise and boy racer police?

What happens if a member of youre family crashes on the motorway nearby and theres been a crash at Hams hall where a saxo driver has killed himself through his own fualt by hitting a lampost at way over the speed limit? and they go to attend to him or her in the saxo first and leave your family member till second due to not knowing the circumstances of your family members crash? ithink then you would not agree with what you have said.

hi people just wonderin does anyone on here ever go hams hall havnt been up in a while just wantin 2 no if its any gd these days?

Cheers

I would seriously think twice about going up there.

It just aint worth it, i got a £30 fine the other week and there's always police around somewhere!

Hams Hall...looking on YouTube it seems to be a lot of scummy minks in shit cars driving about like knobs... (checks words used: scummy, minks, shit, knobs...yup that's all the bases covered)

 at this thread, tav spot on mate
