Nope i just gave it a rub down with some sand paper for a bit then sprayed a few layers of gloss black paint down and its tickety boo :)

Erm... Got the paint from a diy shop i think should be able to get it anywhere id imagine, might want to spray some primer down 1st but i didnt bother

haha, I'm all for cheap and cheerful though... ill give it a bash when I've got time and get the photos on here!

would anyone agree with me getting the GTI grill with red tape round it, black badging it, and then attempting to turn the red into jazz blue... i love the grill how it is, but i dont want to pay for bodywork to get the bonnet notch removed, and my hunt for a bonnet already done hasnt been succesful!

I would just go for the GTI grille if i were you they look proper daft without the notch filled in :)

haha (Y) agreeed... currently negotiating a sale for one now... btw, did you do your back badges aswell? how easy are they to get off the car?

Yeah i took the polo and the vw badges off. Was pretty easy if u borrow your mums hairdryer  and just take your time and peel it off, think i used a lolly stick. for a little leverage. Then i used some tar remover stuff to get rid of the rest of the residue then had to t-cut afew times to match in the faded paintwork lol.

Then to stick the badge back on again i used some of the numberplate sticky pad things you get from halfords and just trimmed them a little :) hope that helps

regards the badges i had a mate do mine and he just rubbed it down and used spray hammerite.. would be shiney if i ever bothered to clean my car...

and with the bonnet i only spent £120 having mine filled and it looks great a massive change... imo its the best thing I've had done to the car.. but if your not willing to pay that much then you could get a little piece that fills the gap but some would say they dont look nearly as good...

definitely considering it! =]

I cant find where it was posted now but was it you who was saying there was no polos in stoke?

I was there to play basketball today and i saw 2 mk3's and one fairly modified looking dark reddy coloured mk5 gti lol i think you need to look harder :p

lol, I've spotted quite a few now, loads last saturday... speaking off which, i saw a lowered red polo going the other way past me on the a50, wasn't you was it? :p

Na sadly wasnt me if it was lowered  I'm rockin the 4x4 ride height

Will be sorted soon hopefully

Edit: Might see my car today as il be at the stoke campus playin basketball :D

Few new cheeky lil cheap mods,

Sprayed the badge black myself,

And de-rusted my back drum, then added a red paint job,

100_0136.jpg

Also done my front calipers red, will add a photo when i take one!

I'm quite pleased with the overall effect, it seems to work quite well!

I'm thinking euro plates next, though need to look into the legalities first, also smoked indicators!

Not too keen on the "powahdrums". The black bumpstrips work well with the wheels actually, looks really good

i was skeptical... then i thought about it some more, and i thought, meh, beats the hell out of rust :)

and thanks, really happy with my wheels, took about 2 months to find the ones i wanted, for the price i wanted!

thanks mate! haha, i got them off ebay, from a seller called hottuning, u can buy it now or best offer, i offered £160, though I've heard they go as low as £150 :), which for brand new coilies is pretty darn good, good ride aswell!

and yeah, that was my plan, i think standard polo rear lights look really good, and i thought a bit of red down the side would suit together! rear black badge coming soon, i just keep forgetting to buy something to reattach it with! haha...

Trip down scrappy with mate in his vtr,

Same, well it took about 3 - 4 hours... using a guide i found for the 6n... you should be ok as long as you have all the right sockets and tools... i took my time aswell, prefer to do everything carefully... and theres plenty of people on here to offer you advice should you get stuck... my mates brother was a big help as i had to borrow some sockets off him! You not got any handy mates?
