Maritime Blue 5 door....

I'm fed up and anoyed! Spent ages smoothing my 8v bumper, which has gone really well but its taking time to get perfect and as its 10pm on saturday night before edition I'm just going to leave it rather than rushing it in the poor light of my work shop and do it after the show. So i'll be going to edition with a cracked up 16v bumper....never mind, its just about having fun this weekend with my mates...not winning the show and shine lol....

this post is mainly because she's UP FOR SALE!! I'm just craving a mk1 and I've had her for nearly two years now and am getting a little bored! So if anyones interested then drop me a message....

After edition i'll be mending some bits on the body work and giving her a last coat of paint...as well as putting the 8v front bumper back on instead of the 16v one...

ok this is probs my last update as I'm selling up.....in need of a fresh new project!!!! So here's what I've been doing.....

Sound system sorted finally....

IMG_0714.jpg

Pheonix Gold amp...

IMG_0730.jpg

10cm vibes stuffed behind these....

IMG_0731.jpg

Diamond audio's behind these....

Fully replaced all the wiring with decent stuff and wacked my sub in the boot.....

IMG_0732.jpg

Then started on smoothing the recess on my 8v bumper...

IMG_0750.jpg

Cut out recess shape from rear 8v pumper....fits perfect...tiger sealed it down with clamps...

IMG_0752.jpg

Plastic welding....first step....

IMG_0753.jpg

IMG_0756.jpg

Second step...

IMG_0757.jpg

all sanded down...

IMG_0759.jpg

fibre glass....then filler....but forgot to take pics sorry. Then its just a question of getting the stupid line straight which is for me the only challenging part of smoothing....so frustrating at times!! if anyones got any tips on easy ways to get it straight then let me know!!!

IMG_0774.jpg

Then finally....coilovers wound all the way down at the front....and 6 threads left at the back.....muhhaahaaaaa!

Done a few photoshoots with the finished product....i'll put up the photo's later on today!!

comments welcome!

I friggin love that car 8-) for a 6n :-) them last pics are awesome

To get the line straight, maybe measure out the sand paper so that it will only reach upto to the line (if you know what i mean????) then cut it out and go from there :-)

Love you car mate its come a long way, now looking at yours makes me want to smooth my 8v bumper even more.

Iv already been down the 16v bumper road it 8v now FTW

looks proper sweeeet, i think you should keep it a while

also 8v bumper came out mint good work

i was just wondering what the body shop have done with the original rear bumper of mine and if the contours are the same to smooth one out and uve just answered it!! look sick mate! how did you fit the numberplate on the front? cheers

I do know what you mean....but its hard to keep sanding the same line and it got carnaged quite a few times and I had to start again! I have to say...6n polo bumper recess's are a bit of a mission to get right! Thanks though man!

yeah 8v's FTW....swear so many people with 8v's are going down the 16v route....they look good I've got to admit but theres something more OEM about the 8v!! I like it!

Thanks mate....I'm fiending for a new project atm to be honest, want something new!! Was thinking mk2 golf on 13's or perhaps a mk3 cabby...gunna give polo's a rest intill i can afford a mk3 on coilovers/air!! I do love them though!

just two black cable ties around the lower grill.....do them up tight and cut off the slack....then thread a clear cable tie through each one and tie them around the number plate!!

:-( dude as if your selling up...so many people are giving up on polos and moving on (poundie/leigh/jonny)

tell you what though mate, I could do with a bit of advice on the recess smoothing, I'm doing the two upper grilles and rear badge before the car goes into the bodyshop for a respray.
