It just stops the nitromors from drying out so it can eat away at the paint for longer, there for you dont have to repeat the process over and over....

Okay....some decent progress on the flakey wheel....gunna mask it up tomorrow and prime the back up and maybe the front depending on the state of the bolts....but here's what i did today....

First i sanded of the minging diamond cut bits....smoothed them all out....

Sanded the whole wheel, front and back in 240grit....

Started on the dishes with 400 grit....

So after 600, 800, 1000, 1200 i finished on 1500 grit....

I've got some higher grade paper on order and will finish the dishes of with autosol....

Oh and my new puppy....eating my breakfast....

Oh and no its not normally alowd on the tables...

That puppy is sooo cute. is it a jack russell?

Dragon greens ftw! Yeah its a jack russel....its called tizzle! My other rack russel had it and 6 others before christmas!

Mate do it...saves you shit loads of £££ and when their finished you know you did em and its well worth it!! Take em back to Uni and do a little bit everyday, they'de be finished in a few weeks!! Thats what I'm doing....I'm going back on sunday!!

Sorted out the bolts today.....after trying many ways to remove the chrome from the inside of the bolts i grabbed the drill and drilled out the torx pattern so now they have no pattern and are nice smooth holes with no flakey chrome in them! They're fake splits and everyone knows that so why keep the pattern which was all crappy and would of ruined the finish after painting....(yes I'm painting the bolts the same colour as the centres as all the chrome has flaked off)

just ordered etch primer and laqueur! BUT WHAT COLOUR TO PAINT MY WHEEELS?!?!?!? I'm cool with silver but I'm still not sure whether to go with gold or cream....what does everyone think?????

i would keep them silver if it was me

oh and I'm gunna sand down and smooth the centre caps as I'm not a fan of the chrome 'Keskin' logo on them....so i'de smooth the letters need horse out and paint them the same colour as the centres....I'm gunna do it, but yay or nay??

yes do it, or try to get new centre caps to fit in them tbh, the keskin ones are crap an let water under the plastic an you'l get rot inside!

I've found these... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-CENTRE-CAPS-WITHOU...A1%7C240%3A1318 ...but dont know if they will fit, so I'm just gunna smooth them myself....they'll look exactly like the ones from ebay....

Small update but big result....after drilling the fake split bolts the dishes got a few scratches to i gave them a re-polish before i started painting....

I ordered this lot last week.....

so i got up to 1500 again....

i bit of lube for the 2000...

After 2500 i wacked on some autosol.....looked minging....

But....then it came off and......

I'm very happy with the result....just sparayed on the first coats of etch primer....they are drying as we speak.....more updates to come.....

Etch primer is taking a while to dry which is anoying, need to key it up tomorrow morn and give it a final coat before grey primer....

I got it on ebay....just type in 2000/2500 grit sandpaper.....its like £3 if i remember correctly!

colour wise - i think id hit black - green my make it to busy to look at.
