Drive up to Stourbridge and time your car's 0-60?

What power do you think you're 1.3 SPi is producing to crack 9 seconds, seriously?

Timed mine. 6.6 seconds.

Do i believe the reading? As if. She said she hit the button spot-on,but there's no way it'll do that, and certainly not with two people in the car (though both light).

Id say its at least a second slower,so how did you time yours?

taped it to the indicator stalk m8 , did urs spin its wheels changin from 1st to 2nd ?

Get real mate. Sorry but it had to be said!!

And as said, the rolling road is were you can reall prove your point! Making a little video, isnt going to cut it unfortunatley!

You operated a recording device yourself? And you attached something to the car's controls? :retard:

I'll suppose you used a section of public highway,too.. But either way,its people that do so who cause the authorities to create harsher laws upon us.

lol, does it spin the wheels from 1st to 2nd?

lol, does it spin the wheels from 1st to 2nd?

 Wait until it does it from third to fourth - in the dry. Then you may be onto something.

I bet its the quickest car he's had, bless him.

mine wheelspinz in 5th yo!

Mine's so powerful it blew the welds on the intake and fried the piston rings.

Though maybe that was because I was granny-shiftin', not double-clutchin' like I should?

Sarcasm and bad film quotes aside, timing a cars 0-60 using a stop watch on a public road is not the way foward. You want an accurate 0-60, take it to the strip and see what proper timing equipment says.

i cant aford the track or strip for now can just aford to run the thing , it is mi 1st 1.3 so seems quick to me , will see, what she does at rr day hu is guna watch me ?

I doubt my 103bhp GT would break the 9.0sec so i really doubt this rubbish.

is he drivin a polo or a time machine how is that possible i might have to come to this rr day just for shits and giggles

how have u got 103 bhp n if u want to get a 0-60 of 9 seconds just half clutch it then drop it , i dont think the gt is as fast a accselarating ratio as a cl box though

the GT box is better for 0-60 times as i understand?

I hope you're taking note Kerrly.

Class is in session.

The CL boxes shorter ratios make up for its 40bhp less than your GT, hence why he could crack 9 seconds..

..it all makes perfect sense!

Around the 100bhp mark is easily achieveable by spending money in the right places on a GT. Bear in mind they come from factory with 75bhp. By the time you sort the breathing out by way of a freer flowing exhaust and 4 branch manifold and decat, decent panel filter in a drilled airbox with the warm air feeds, etc removed (or a decent cone filter with heatshield) and a chip with the fuelling and advance adjusted you're already at around 85bhp.

That doesn't sound like a lot, but given the small capacity of these engines it's harder to extract power, which does make your claims of 88bhp questionable as the SPi lumps are amongst the hardest of the Mark3 lumps to get any sort of real power from.

Going back to the GT lump, add a cam and some headwork to the list above, and get it all set-up right and 100bhp can be found quite easily. Go on to add carbs or throttlebodies with aftermarket engine management and you could hope for up to 120bhp.

My car was once a 1.3 SPi and compared to the 1.5 DCi Clio I learnt to drive in, it felt like the fastest thing around at age 18. If power gains like the ones you quote were as easily achieveable as you say, then why would I now be running a 3F (GT) lump?

As for the CLs gearbox being close ratio, I hate to burst your bubble, but assuming it's an 8P 5-speed it has some of the longest ratios in the Mark3 line-up, the only other 'box having taller ratios is the ATV code box found on G40s. To put it into perspective When running my 1.3SPi with 8P box and 165/65 profile tyres I was happily cruising at 40 in 4th gear. My GT with close ratio 'box and same profile tyres was happier in 5th at 40 when cruising to keep the revs down.

Until you can provide either a dyno graph or a timeslip, expect to come in for criticism and scrutiny with your claims, as at present you have nothing to back them up.

rofl, a polonoob in stourbridge.

and racing the norton road is just gay, i pwnd a vr raddo down there once but its hardly a quiet road to be pissing about on, what a toolomon.

lmfao!!!

this is a laugh, i drive a 1.3 spi and i have a induction kit and exhaust and made pretty much no difference (only slightly on 0-30 lol) its going to have a gt conversion purely because the fact its so slow and you cant really do much with it compared to a gt and get somewhere.

lolkthx tb msgbck lol lmao lmfao wb ty ly nvm

(all i can think of haha)

 for the msgbk made me laugh out load at work

 at the claim of uber power unless proven...

how have u got 103 bhp n if u want to get a 0-60 of 9 seconds just half clutch it then drop it , i dont think the gt is as fast a accselarating ratio as a cl box though

- Full s/s exhaust inc de-cat and 4 branch,

- GTi AFM

- Ported&Polished TB

- K&N Panel filter

- Shrick 268/268 cam

- PoloAce chip

And alot of servicing.

And the GT box is actually the short ratio revvy bastard out of the boxs. With the chip fitted if i was to hold out to get 60 in 2nd would be pointless (Would give me a lower 0-60) when changing gear at 55 would be better in the long run.

amen to brother karl....man speaks truth
