Great project, will wait for further modifications. Are u going further in making the car lighter, i mean are you removing the sound deadening?

  • Author

all sound deadening has been removed, with the exception of this furry thing at the back of the engine bay/firewall.

but yes, actually I will be removing more crap from the car in the spring:)

Pexiglass rear windows (left and right)

and I want to see if I can get a pexiglass hatch window as well.

also:

removing rear doorcards,

and

getting rid of the rear wiper motor, and wiper, as I haven't used the rear wiper in 2 years

..

Jarno is suggesting lightweight rims, but they are more expensive than I am good looking (haha).

Looking good! It's nice to see a Mk4 for being used for motorsport and not scraping the floor on 13's...

Are you using the GTi gearbox? If you are, have you done anything about making it stronger?

Nope, you're just not making enough money on your job, and calling and driving over to Frederique to much, costing you a fortune, which you could have spent on new wheels ;)

Oh, and you forgot the polyfibre bonnet in your list of spring-break stuff ;)

Yep, 5 speed GTI gearbox.. which apparently, in a drag race is faster than a 6 speed (have the vids somewhere)...

So far, gearbox seems happy... I take pretty decent care of it while driving... (matching the rev's... gentle when cold.. same with the engine)

But the only problem is that because of my reduced wheel circumference, my speedo is off.. so If I'm doing a GPS confirmed 121Km/h (about..uhhh 75MPH) my engine is at 4100 RPM!

Great for the track, at the exits of turns, but a bit bad for autobahn driving...

a few weeks ago, coming back from the Essen motorshow i was at 6800RPM for about 20-30 min. :-/ i cant help but feel a bit bad for my engine then.

haha she has only cost me one trip, and it was well worth it :p .

i get 1000txts per month in my plan, so its all good...

But yes, further away from me than.. Nadine, so thats a bit bad i guess:p

its just that I had saved up to pay my fines :( stupid cops..

But yes, polyfibre bonnet, indeed, jarno ;)

Good point with rear wiper motor it weights a lot :-) Also if you do not use the drivers safebelt (as i saw you have bucket and harnesses) get rid of it, the pirotechnical belt tensioner is one veeeeery heavy bastard ;)

About lightweight bonnet? Where are u getting it from? Is somebody custom building it for you?

wow, our cars come with pirotechnical belt tensioners?

i didnt even know that haha

unfortunately, in holland, even if you have a full 4 point harness, they want you to keep in the seatbelts (3 points) for the yearly inspection (mot type thing).

i got pulled over twice because they thought I wasnt wearing my seatbelt...

second time this cop on a bike (sigh...) knocked on my window, and said "hey, where is your se-... oh.. three point harness"..

I corrected him and said, "no man.. four!"

bastards;)

anyway.. I'm not sure about the lightweight bonnet, but Jarno has more connections than the mafia, so I am confident he can find me some one who is willing to do it for a good price.

I might get those cool assed hood-pins that "real" race cars have...

Go get them - this ones are on my polo (crappy phone pics):

nice;)

those are exactly what I'm talking about.

Bad news is:

The hippie dutch government arent happy with those though:(

they want flat ones..(which suck)

apparently these will rip holes in peoples legs when you hit them (grand theft auto style).

What about your car man? whats her story? ;)

Fully ripped inside, 1.6 AEA modded (lightened crankshaft and flywheel, raised compression etc) soon to be powered with 2 double DHLA Dellortos ;) Will make topic here if i make decent photos of the car. My topic on Polo Club of Poland (in Polish) HERE

Hey guys! Its been a while since I've been on here.. alot happening...

Ill be posting in the "Engine-Please fuckin help me" section later on, as my engine is on Safe Mode now, due to a camshaft position sensor..

BUT!

The real reason why I am here is:

My New Racing Vid

Basic summary:

I thought that I would bring along my GF (broke up with the last one, this one is new, likes cars, and isnt a lesbian!) for her first track experience ever.

It was wet, and very foggy, and I was on my slicks, as I have crap road tires on the rears.

This was the first time in months I have been on the track, and was pretty nervous, as due to the fact I had a Roll Cage, I would have to participate in: Sports Class.

This class (i thought) would be much more difficult, as 'serious' cars and drivers would be this class.

I found out that it was just as easy to pass everyone.

Anyway, hope you guys enjoy: watch the whole thing... the beginning of the video is a bit boring, but the action quickly picks up ;)

let me know whatcha think

p.s.

Photos will come soon, The car looks bad now! :p

I was given German plates that said:

WOB RH 387

(for my initials, and my birthdate ;) )

Really nice mate, LOL at 5.15 thought u were off as was way to fast into the corner lol (well in the wet n on slicks anyway :)

Good driving tho dude, what a idiot in that skyline. (Learn how to drive...) (nearly made you hit him at 4.56. douchebag)

This was shot by Schiphol Amsterdam intnl airport.

I'm not entirely happy with the shot, but I will try to perfect it, with some auxilary lighting here and there.
