No! My understanding is that the numberplate has to be infront of the front wheels... So you could stick it to your bonnet as long as it's infront of the front wheels.

You're right in what you're saying about it not being reflective through glass but it's also the positioning which is illegal too. (so i've been told anyway! I'm gonna google it now for the actual law!)

i ran with plate in window for about a year never got stopped..

got pulled once for my german plates and i asked copper about plate in window he said its fine as long as he can see it..

allthough he did say its not reflective through glass. but wasnt fussed.
