That mille miglia was a joke, I didnt see one car giving it death, just a lot of people in old cars holding up the normal traffic.

u didnt see anyone giving there car death because the programme was about him doing it, therfore the cameras followed him.....and he was out at the first stretch lol gutted! LOST £300,000 on it!

True, he did explain that some of the more veteran drivers were hitting 120mph on public roads, and on the mountain roads, the Alfa (i think) and some others were flying along the middle of the road with traffic on both sides.. in cars worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.. i call that giving it some..

.. and the guy did explain that he wasnt gonna floor it round the city as there were kids standing inches away...

The Mille Miglia programme after was really lame though. Was less about an amazing motorsport event and more about James Martin acting like a spoilt brat when his toys broke.

I thought the mille miglia programme was quite good actually. I think i'd be slightly p*ssed off if a car i'd spent £800k on broke down during the first days racing! I thought it was quite strange that the engine had only done 200miles since the new rebuild and hasn't actually been run-in though

When that mechanic fired it up (and it didnt sound all that rough) and said 'finito' I thought he had sorted it. I think I would have driven it until it died. Its gonna be getting a ful on 6 billion dollar rebuild anyway.

And everyone blaming 'old cars', People in the 30's and 40's used to travel the world in their cars, No reason why it shouldnt be as reliable as a modern car if it was built right. Although it was italian so serves him right.

They said it was a valve. Valve my ass,it was blatantly the bottom end knocking. And it was the bottom end because he carried on driving with an oil leak,with an engine that had done 200 miles.
