Pot Hole Claim

Featured Replies

pot holes are just unacceptable. we pay a three figure tax each year to drive on safe roads, yet there are still pot holes everywhere. i commute every day on a motorbike, and two of the main roads i use (single carriage 60mph) are absolutely shredded with pot holes... if i hit on of them on my bike i'd go hell for leather down the road. seriously, it sickens me that i got caught doing 36 in a 30 zone, and got fined for it, yet i pay my taxes, and each day run the risk of actually getting killed.

the pot holes i'm talking about have been there for as long as i can remember, anybody who knows the addingham bypass between addingham and ilkley will know what i mean... the guy who posted above me might do as he lives about 2 miles from the road.

anyhow, rant over...

Will BTTT, got a letter from the council saying the road it was on is not their responsibility, and is that of Persimmon Homes Ltd, so they have forwarded the letter on.

Waiting game I guess!

about a month so far.

Although I got a letter from the council which I mentioned, dated 29th Jan, saying that the council forwarded the letter on to Persimmon, and within a few days of them receiving it the POT HOLE HAS NOW BEEN FILLED UP

I'm waiting for Persimmon still to contact me about compensation though.

just noticed this.

was driving a mates VR6 in durham, hit a pot hole outside of Bimbi's in the market place, literally ripped the tyre in two.

Went to change it, he didn't carry a jack, thought screw it, drove home (less than a mile).

got the wheel off at home, took photo's of the tyre, went back to Durham, got a picture of the pot hole, printed off at a machine thing,

went to national tyres, got a receipt for a new tyre, went to county hall, filled in some forms, couple of hours later the hole was filled,

two weeks later got the money for the tyre.

not really that much hassle as I acted quick.

Hi, I stumbled accross your site whilst looking up my rights about a pot hole in Essex. I drive a mk2 golf Gti and an Audi A3 1.8T. I recently hit a pot hole and damaged my suspension (spring snapped) and traking was out, 2 tear drop alloys (refurbed), a tyre and the exhuast came off the brakets plus a day unpaid to get this fixed.I enclosed pictures and receipts then reported it a day or 2 later. I received a response to my letter when i got home from work today it stated they were un aware of the hole and the road is inspected annually they enclosed some reports and said therfore they are not liable in any way, i am so taking this further - they noted in their letter that it was repaired on the same day it was reported however further on it states the inspection was carried out 2 days later!! work that out!!

Also my partner who was using it for work used that road for 2 more weeks and each day he would say "this still has not been repaired". They are liars and will do anything they can to get out of it. So i will take this further, my advice to anyone reading this is to stand your ground and bug them all day long if you have too. I am an engineer and total loss adjuster and put up with crap like that all day and when people pester me i just settle it asap to save further complaints and costs. I wanted to take my golf to Ultimate Dubs in March but it's not going with odd wheels!! so i will take my Audi instead :x
