Just out of curiosity how much is hosting and how many paid members do we have to press?

I understand why its been done, but I think admins are being harsh about it, Lots of mates I recommended this forum to dont use it to chat, but to help them source parts for the polos. Making users pay just to view the classified section is stupid and alot of people will leave this site. This is one of my fav forums but if classifieds sections only remains open to paid users, I dont think I will be using this forum for much longer.

it stops scamming little shits from signing up one account or multiple accounts and taking money from hardworking people like yourselves...

so admin are gonna pay me out if i do get scammed??

how many people get scammed in the autotrader a year do u think on paid adverts?

well dougy, as this is a club for no financial gain, if you are a paid member, by rights, law, if you request to see the books for running the club, expenses etc, they have to show you

You will never stop scammers, like its been said before theyl only pay the 5a to get a membership then theyle be in, then as panda says theyle be in to a totally safe selling enviroment....Bollocks....

All this is doing is making more members... more of a backlog... less people into the for sale section...

i have been on here since the days of porka. I've bought n sold a lot of stuff over the years and never once had trouble with anything. its quite amazing how much protection 2 little questions can give you:-

1: Ask for a LANDLINE NUMBER

2: FULL NAME AND ADDRESS

type them in, make sure it matches, if it doesnt, ALARM BELLS! simple as.

i was a paying member for 5 yrs, 4 of which i owned a polo and tbh never got any benefits- A crappy lil book which i looked at and went- oh I've been on the forum, I've seen all of this before, and in one of them, i dunno about anyone else but half the info was missing on some pages.... Brentacre you have to be 19 or older ot insure with them- was no benefit for 2 yrs, then after that no benefit cos they were more expensive even with my "member discount", VAG-Parts were never any use when i did try them before- few yers ago so dunno if theve improved, Pitstop- well they dont even exist anymore!, and the rest. basically they're was no addvantage to me paying my £5 that i used to. now i dont own a polo i didnt renew my membership cos theres still no advantage to it. i used to browse the sale forums ALOT out of interest but tbh not so much recently, had considered getting a polo again but i'll got look in my local papaer for free and get one without the skeen tax!

This forum is genuinely actually crap in comparison to how it used to be, full of nobs asking the same questions over and over again, and come on, 11 pages and there was only Panda replying and i think was it Hayesey put a reply in earleier. one member of the admin team...... the joke with membership packs aswell, thats been like 18 months theres been a back log...... Why charge people to view the for sale section as that is basically whats happening. I dont want a shitty sticker or a members pack so all i will get for my £5 is the right to view a for sale section on a forum which is supposed to accomodate the vw scene.

God, the site isn't just a market place. its a wealth of knowledge and experience and you get discounts too which means that using some of the companies who give members a discount, you'll make your £5 back easily. Too many people getting money greed if you ask me.

I pay my £5 to help keep this place open. i'll pay it again when i need to but at least i know that my money is going into something useful for not just me, but countless others.

What a mess this 'idea' has turned into.....totally cutting sellers target audience in half if not by more...so for those members who thought it a good idea obviously dont share many brain cells between them

if its not about revenue and everyone has to join for the site to be any use whatsoever, drop the price. its that simple!

[To what? £1? Web servers are not cheap and this place needs one hell of a server in order to keep it running smoothly. Some people may remember the old server and the problems encountered when there was hundreds of people online at once? £5 is very cheap. If you can't afford £5, you cant afford to run a car!

i think its fair enough to make it members only, i only read one page of this epic thread but its a step in the right direction

all in all i can see the general idea of this but on a site like this, surely not the best course of action

as for the general situation of things, its not just non-members complaining now, youve got people that have paid moaning. i wonder if theres not a similar thread over in the protected forum filled with the same stuff.

i dont mind paying the fiver, but i just haven't seen the point as everything i wanted was readily available. am sorry that i haven't paid for the upkeep, ill repay you at the next polo show (if the club survives)

scamming is going to happen, the police deal with case after case of fraud/deception etc etc, people just arent honest anymore, but dont tar everyone like me whose to tight to open his wallet lol i bought my car off here, now in hind sight the car needed a bit of work which i wasnt told about, but i didnt complain, i tuck it on the chin and put it down to my own stupid fault, we learn from mistakes
