and of course all the members are going to say yeah do it, it dosent matter to them it will just make people stop using the site if anything??

Yeah I agree with that point about people being more inclined to trust people in the members only classified section just because clubpolo says so.

Scammers will be in there in no time and most probably make more money than if it was free for all to view

I dont have many posts, so my post...like the other 13 pages will just be swept away, just like the government does with all of its cock-ups.

I've brought endless ammount of things from the for sale section, i've never been scammed and i've never scammed anyone else.

End of the day, its common sense to whoever is giving money away isnt it? Surely it cant be that hard for someone to say "Bank transfer me the money and i'll send you the item :)"

S'all about paypal and secure stuff.

I'm selling my polo soon, but i'd still check out the forum for other items that i could potentially use on my new car, but now i cant.

Unlimited bandwidth server isnt that much! Heck, you could PAY someone to run the site AND the hosting at the same time.

Which if my maths is any good, it works out to £1,200 a year!

You'll just lose people visiting, and potential members if you keep it locked.

There are plenty of other sites they can use, clublupo, dubclique, polo3, edition38 etc etc.

Not a wise move, like many, many others.

Think it over again.

One posibility could to go down the same route as PM's

Once a member has posed say 20times then they could be entitled to sell stuff in the classifieds.

otherwise the would only be able to view.

dont agree with that either. i had a scooby n had about £300 worth of gear sittin around.. dont have the scooby no more n wanted rid so thought id do the sidc a favour n stick it up for £40.. couldnt as i had 2 make 50 posts 1st.

so i started a thread complainin about not being able to post in the for sale section as it wasnt doing the members any favours. in the thread i also listed what i had n how much i wanted.

...one member hada big smile on his face when he came n collected the bits for £40!!!

what I'm sayin is someone sellin something as a 1 off (mayb a car?) would have to make crap posts just to use the for sale section..

it worked well as it was.. people DO get scammed.. thats life I'm affraid.

It will be just as intresting when the scammed thinks, hmmm club polo efectivly aproved the access of the scammer calls in a no win no fee soliciter and goes after the club/admins who ever they can get the most money out of.

You're forgetting poloshow, other shows we attend, banners, plates, signs, fees.

You could even get 100 posts if you post something and delete it - repeat 100 times and you will have a post count of 100 yet no visible posts.

Thats what mods are here for, to clean up forums, not just impose silly rules like this one, and if i didnt already have one I'd much rather spend 10minutes setting an email and paypal account up, than spend a fiver.

its wank unless paying for things from abroad/other end of country that are coming by courier.

i personally would rather do a 400 mile round trip, and pay cash, than do paypal, gives me a chance to inspect the goods.

i'v driven from MK to bath, to monmothshire, to yeovil, to nottingham, and back home in a day to collect parts... face-to face ftw.

Thats why you have a team of moderators, a few per section, not nesseserily every post, but it helps.

Doesnt that pay for the site that the show is set on?

Surely if you're setting up a forum you take into account the signs, banners, etc? If you didnt then you shouldnt be running a site/forum, and if its the members paying for all this stuff shouldnt they be the admins?

wouldnt it be great if you replied with something like

"well guys I've seen the 4000 viewings of this post, and alot of you have made some good points, I'm glad to see people actually giving their views, we will have another chat in the admin section and see if we can sort something out"

instead of your patronising power trip replies.

Staff don't take any money from the club.

I suggest you find out about how the club is run before you start making accusations.
