the thread would be so much shorter if people who were actually responding were able to write constructive thoughts rather than tittle tattle!

by locking it down to non members i think it a bad move personally, things need to be kept simple in my eyes!

i can see the feedback system having the potential but i think it could be a very complex thing to set up and keep running smoothly and down the line will likely create major headaches regrading possible dispute etc.

with implementing anything, things fail through improper planning and forecasting!

Personally I would never have considered locking the marketplace to paid members only,

Because as been said, it's a shame when many people lose out in order to squash a relatively small problem.

People need to be on their toes, it's blatantly obvious when the seller or buyer can be trusted (Moderators, long-standing members, well-known individuals), but if not then you've got to be smart about it!

Check out the user's post/topic history, who they've got as 'friends', their locations etc, it would hopefully be clear to you if that person is serious or not!

if you leave the situation with me i will continue to voice my opinion and i hope we can reach a resolution, i dont have the access to reopen the classifieds, but even if i did i dont feel i should reopen the sale section immediately and undermine others without discussion!

i wont lock the thread but if it gets out of hand (ie babble) i will until i can get some answers of further admin etc keep it a little more controlled and cut out all the shite!

i doubt very much the classifieds will reopen for a day or so.

Maybe new members first 3 posts should be approved by admin so they cannot do this. Not everyone is clever enough to see that you can create a psot and delete it so it would get rid of some scammers. Also the approval of first three psots would require more moderators and admin so you would need to look at some suitable members however scammers wont know how many times their posts will have to be approved and therefore wont bother IMO.

Cant see this stopping scammers but would tidy things up and potential scammers may think it will be too much hassle doing things by PM and not bother. In conclusion

You say the ideas of posts counts etc are crap but in effect your idea of resricting the area is crap

It has no more success than the 100 post count limit would have as anybody will pay a fiver to make 50. Just as some scammers can be arsed to make 100 posts and delete them.

It has annoyed a very large percentage of the forum INCLUDING members as they are not getting enough interest on their items for sale.

You have further added to the old mens moaning streak on the forum about how it used to be good in the Porka days etc and they now have more ammo which they can use to spam threads like this one.

It would be a good idea to come up with several ideas and create a poll in which members could vote but not post as this wil lcreate another massive thread full of spam whioch nobody wants to read. Let the poll run for one month and ahve ti s a sticky. The winning idea is then put in to place as a trial for a few mnoths so admin and moderators can make notes as to whterh the ammount of scam threads has decreased or not. if not then again a new idea would need to be put in to place but it is most likley that the idea of a post count and a first three posts approval by admin would be effective.

If this isd a club then surley the club should have a say of how things are done and not jsut the admin in their private area.

Got bored at page 14 reading all the whinging replies. From

what I can gather, most of you are only bothered that you can't look on the classifieds to buy stuff to make your car scene! You don't want to invest to keep this place running and probably don't give a shit either way! Are you forgetting the OTHER parts of the forum? How many of you post topics in the technical threads asking for help and advice? At the end of the day, this place has gone downhill but only because of the childish replies from some users and the fact that from 20 replies for example, only 2 will be useful, the rest mindless crap, all G40s being LHD for example!

If the ban was removed, how long before we get another scam thread or 2 and people asking the mods/admin to intervene (sp)? Answer is they won't! They are trying to reduce the risks for us. End of.

A little support wouldn't go amiss folks.

Seems abit poop really as I'm a Mod on Polo3 and Mk2 Golf Owners Club and i think we would take abit of time over talking about something like this. We had a thread in the Mods section on the Mk2 OC only a few weeks ago when we had to sort out our classified section and it ran for a week or two before we all decided on the new rules/regulations.

Maybe you lot should try that next time before someone(s) gets trigger happy again.

Also, having sales replies by PM only is how the scammers work or have some of you forgotten this? Working like this on PMs only would mean everyone would need a larger inbox = more space on server = more expense. Who's gonna pay for this as it seems some forum users DO want a free ride without paying so why suggest this?

Let's put it this way, if a scammer/con artist wants your money they will find a way of getting it. £5 doesn't come close to the amount they could make, they will make the initial investment to take your money. These people will always find a way and with the site being so big its a hell of a place to run a scam.

Admin are just lining up a lot more work for themselves by imposing this rule because as soon as a scam happens they'll get it in the neck because they are essentially taking responsibility for the club members by saying if you are a club member you are trustworthy (most people are but not everyone is). If they leave it open to everyone with a load of warnings and suggestions on how to keep yourself safe from scammers, then posted a notice saying they don't accept responsibility for transactions in the for sale sections then all they have to do is ban the scammers.

Admin - you are merely people not heroes, you can't protect all these people, they can only protect themselves.

I'm not even gonna bother whinging, as i only come on here to try and get a wee bit of advice/tips from past posts and to look for a few bits i need for my polo....but, would it not have been a better idea to give people fair warning enough so that they could get membership?? just a thought....
