i paid to be a member around 5 days back and still no reply or allowence into the members section whats goig on with that i think slight restrictions or borderlnes put into position would be alot clearer than a total locked members section

Can i just say that this thread now makes me laugh...I've actually gone and signed up as a club member.

my status hasnt changed (no little green club member lol) so what did i do...spoke to panda via PM, he replied within 15 mins and is gonna personally activate it for me tomorrow :-D

sorry forum users...I'm a traitor lol

Ban the scammer ? Have you forgotten what happened last time?

Bored of this. Gonna go and buy some bits for my car haha

Listen if I wanted to scam you by PM i'd say, "hey buddy, got a G40 supercharger for sale 100 quid to you" and if you sent me a hundred quid i'd then say, "winner". But how is someone who's selling something get scammed by PM? "I see you're selling 4 rather nice alloy wheels there, if you send them today I promise i'll post the cash tomorrow"? Come on.

Plus why would you need a larger inbox, the way I see it it's cut down on the bullshit replies to adds. You know the ones, "yeah this is my mate Steve's car, it's a minter duh".

by locking it down to non members i think it a bad move personally, things need to be kept simple in my eyes!

Personally I would never have considered locking the marketplace to paid members only,

so who made this joint decision to lock the market place down?

What is Liz's thoughts on this....as Club Chairperson or does Panda have to be the public face of this crazy idea???

they need to own up...

"we cocked up. look after yourselves, we'll respond faster to the report button if something isnt right, have the forsale back"

all it needs...

What a crap idea =[

if its not about revenue and everyone has to join for the site to be any use whatsoever, drop the price. its that simple!

[To what? £1? Web servers are not cheap and this place needs one hell of a server in order to keep it running smoothly. Some people may remember the old server and the problems encountered when there was hundreds of people online at once? £5 is very cheap. If you can't afford £5, you cant afford to run a car!

if your gonna make more people pay, you can afford to drop the price, theres an awfull lot of other forums that run perfectly well without rinsing members of money. retro rides forum for example.

the reason i can run 2 cars is that i dont waste cash on shite i dont need :-p

all good and well saying 'I've payed my £5, so i must be entitled to more of a say', what about people who spend ages helping people in the tech sections, mikey for example. my post count hasnt come from general spamming (with the exception of the panda for sale thread) its mostly come from helping other polo owners out. from now on i wont bother, why should i? theres no perks to the forum anymore.

free and friendly help can be found @ polo3.co.uk and polog40.co.uk though :-D

People have spoken out and mostly i agree, no difference if i start going on but.its just a bad idea altogether...(yes i know i haven't got many post counts just i don't have time on the internet, most of the time I come on clubpolo looking for a cars on classifieds lol or will just browse around)

Retarded move imo.

Site will lose a lot of visitors now.

Money maker for the site owners?

they need to own up...

"we cocked up. look after yourselves, we'll respond faster to the report button if something isnt right, have the forsale back"

all it needs...

I think Panda may agree with this.....are all your Admin & Mod team up to performing their duties??? I'm sure you can track their activity...are they all pulling their weight..................maybe this could help solve the problem by having more or more commited memebers to your team....?????

But seriously.......you can put anything in place to stop scammers....look at the billion dollar hoax over in the USA, where a business man scammed world wide banks for years and made a fortune.

Use a disclaimer at the top of the sections simple as.

You can't hold people's hands.........people need to use their common sense I'm affraid.

wont be much for sale anymore

hoppy has pretty much hit the nail on the head

Any issues, post in this thread.

I bet you wish you hadn't posted that.

I'm woundering if a lot of the displesure has come not so much from what was done but the way it came out of the blue without any consultation with club members and forum users and I think people have felt insulted by that.

Just my ramblings here on the issue too........

I joined the "club" back in Jan 2007, my first memories of the club was using the For Sale Section. I met alot of good people through this, travelled alot of miles collecting stuff, got my car on the road fast with new parts and generally got me into the "scene"

Shame it has got to this now, as it's people's first port of call for a urgent part to get a car back on the road or get a project moving on quickly.

BAD TIMES

i read up to about page 4 but i cant lose an hour of my day reading this unfortunatly. I don't see it as a problem to be honest as I'm already a member and have been on for a reasonable about of time. People do need to use their noggin a bit more when buying expensive goods, if someone in the street offered your a laptop a phone and an ipod for 200 quid if you go to the cash machine now, you wouldnt do it.

I think maybe people who are signed up on here as members tend to be slightly more involved, or just post up regularly a few times a week or so at least. People should be cautious of those who simply use the classifieds. But as people who mess about with cars alot of us just have stockpiles of stuff in our garages and it all needs shifting some way or another and alot of the non members do help out with purchasing them.

however its wrong as a non member to scream at admin and tell them its wrong, they have a right to stick their middle fingers up and say no as your not a club member, we owe you nothing, and quite rightly so.

If you require parts and refuse to pay there are plenty of other alternatives including good old scrapyards, where you see the part you buy often removing it from the car yourself.

Just think, you cant have your cake and eat it, buying from classifieds here isnt like buying from asda or hmv online, 24 hour free delivery and 7 day no quibble money back guarantee.

And always try and phone sellers and talk to them, they like cars, you like cars, have a chat, you might find a new friend to get battered with at the upcoming shows

anyway i reckon this is a triple figure thread, gonna get up to page 100 at least, bansai, place your bets now

I agree with that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but one of the bonus's of becoming a member is having access to the members only section to discuss club matters..

And seeing as the amount of members that use the classifieds is quite a bit higher than the number of mods/admin that do, i think we deserved a decent discussion and even a vote on the issue instead of a random desision being made, that apparently even some mods didnt agree with.

Would like to add that I don't feel this is a good idea, common sense and a bit of digging around goes along way when buying/selling IMO.

However I don't feel that it is right that there are so many people on here just lunging out at mods/admin and accusing them of cynically trying to make a bit of cash on the sly, especially considering the amount of time/effort that goes into running a club of this size, even if it doesn't always go as smoothly as users might want.

TBH all this scamming is just a sign of the times, even if you went to the effort of implementing a feedback system, those determined enough will always find a way around it (ebay's is hardly faultless), change isn't always bad, I mean everybody moaned when the for sale sectioned was itemised but now it functions great. However I feel this is a step in the wrong direction and as a whole won't be good for the club as well as both forum users and members :|

i dont agree saf, there pleanty of people who contribute in other ways to the forum, seems a bit wrong to ban them from having a say and using the for sale section just cos they dont want to pay £5. theres pleanty of people on here who pay the £5 and contribute naff all
