Where do I start,

After coming from my normal life with my girlfriend I find a 22 page thred on this after just 3 pages earlier that I read. I'm with the mods on the fact they have got normal lives and to be honest, if I had a job at the moment I would hardley ever be on here.

I think that admin should open it back up and have a proper discussion about it and then get back to us.

I read a post either from Chrispy or Danny that said 5 members of the admin/mod team agreed on this happening, I would like to paste this list in from the top of this polo chat board with all the mods/admin:

Administrators

heartagram (Kam) - Club Polo Membership Secretary (Standing Down, Please Contact Yeti or Chrispy With Membership Questions)

Insight_G40 (Rob) - Club Polo Treasurer

panda (Paul) - Technical support

sally_healey (Sally) - Club Polo Web Geek, Website/Forum Administrator supported by test_richie & panda

test_richie (Dave) - Technical support

Moderators

Danny_Lee (Danny) - Club Polo Yearbook editor

Karl_CLCoupe (Karl) - Club Polo Events Co-ordinator

Liz (Liz) - Club Polo Chairperson

Yeti (Steve) - Membership Secretary's Bitch

Chrispy (Christian) - Membership Secretary's Apprentice

16vTej (Tejpal)

86C (Steve)

ahh claudia (Luke)

G40_CTM (Chris)

Alex (Alex)

dog fart (Tom)

Gaz (Gaz)

gofasterpinch (Chris)

Nick_S (Nick)

Polo6n1600i (Andrew)

poloace (Alan)

Steve_S (Steve)

Yoof (Peter)

There are a lot more than 5 there so it couldnt of been the majority vote. If some of them wernt online then surely you should of waited first for most of their opinions.

I am most pissed off with the amount of spam/general chat I had to read through this thread, it would be a lot less to read through if that wasnt there.

I feel for the mods/admin that are getting the sh*t abused out of them

On a good note, after some digging I got PEEDUBs address so anyone who was scammed by this lad please PM me and il give you the information

Huw

sorry but

So if i sign up and pay the fee and then get scammed by a seller who is also a member will the admin people fight my case and get my money back for me?

very much doubt it

this place has really gone down hill the past couple of years and this is the nail in the coffin.

once this was a good club but decisions like these makes the admin group look like a bunch of monkeys.

Also like to add, i think it's unfair to say that for example, a brand new member with a few posts that has paid the £5, has priority over a long standing member with a few thousand posts, most of which are technical and helpful, that hasnt paid for membership.

Money isnt the only way for people to contribute to the forum.

what can you say to that??????

well I've just read through the latest stuff, if this has been discussed in the admin section panda, can you please quote some of the "cons" from the idea?

all the points have been made really, there is no good going to come from this, the vote pritty much shows exactly where we are at

we are all different people so it shows a broad view

I've said it about 3 or 4 times now, but please can it be opened up, be it for a day or so, for people to sort the incomplete transactions out?

there is no harm in that?

In my opinion this is ridiculous.

So you have to pay £5 to view a classifieds section?

Maybe sort out the memebership sistuation before introducing rules like this.

What if i want to advertise my car for sale? the only people that will see the add are members, which more than likey already own a Polo..

Non-owners that have signed up on here, looking to buy a Polo before becoming a member, wont be able to see the cars.

Bollocks.

Chris.

That's why I came on here, to buy a Polo, and now I have found one and got his number 2 days ago. It was lucky I asked for it otherwise I would have lost out. Talk about scamming non members. Whats is so good about becoming a member? The advertisements pay for the hosting and maintenance. If they dont then advertise more. It's BS. I'm off.

Should have stayed with club polo Robin!

Plus, if the decision was made to help members, and like 95% disagree with the move.. who is benefitting? The admin? At the fact that there might be 5% less chance of them receiving a PM about someone being scammed? Really worthwhile...

I can see Uk-Polos gaining some new members...

oh no I cant, it's f**king shit. LOL

^ haha truth.

think theres guna be plenty of other new and not so new members guna be put off by this and leaving

In my opinion, i think this could turn out to be one of the worst (if not the worst) thing Club Polo has/could do as many of the guys i know who visit the forum mainly come on for that for sale section, and it brings more people to the community.

come on mods, do the right thing, earn back the respect. surely we can digguss other alternatives? such as every seller must register themselves before selling and provide proof they are genuine?

www.DubClique.com

Simple solution.

EVERYTHING is free. :)

how can they register themselves? in theory... they are registering just not joining the club.

true, but maybe provide some other form of proof? and we could maybe get some kind of feedback system going?
lol was just going to say that about dub clique

Would of been SO wrong though darling.

Put a donk on it.

Clubpolo eBay...

Clubpolo eBay...

precisely :) (i cant spell it lol)

As much as i've loved reading this, we need to get serious before they make this thread members only. Lets stop all the messing about now boys and girls let all us lower class forum users buy some seriously over priced tat too, no fair.

On a serious note why don't people check out the for sale section on Clubgti, see what they do.

Sorry to say, but if this keeps up, i'm going else where!

Dubclique FTW!!!!

panda, you are just winding people up with one line single posts. why not put a decent full post explaining just like Chrispy did? maybe if you did in the first place this wouldnt be 18 pages long. now please please open the sales section back up.

Sorry dude, but when i'm at work, I can't do alot more than post one liners!

Basically we're all gonna end up having to pay a fiver to use something that we get for free everywhere else.

Panda is going to become mega rich, buy a ferrari ... then open clubferrari.co.uk and charge them £15.

Genius!

I'm failing to see one constructive comment or suggestion on this matter from you...

i actually think i'v made a fair few decent suggestions...

leave it as it is and just put clearer bold guidelines, get more mods to keep an eye on things.

Thanks for taking this thread seriously. Others have abused it. I quite like your ideas and they have been taken on board.

Last year i paid my £5 and never got made a member so dont think there is a point in me trying again. Just to get my opinion in aswell. THIS IS BULLSHIT

Why didn't you PM a member of staff and get this sorted? No-one to blame but yourself here I'm afraid.

yes kerrly people who are currently not online now agreed to the motion!

5 people in total were keen to act on it

Seems abit poop really as I'm a Mod on Polo3 and Mk2 Golf Owners Club and i think we would take abit of time over talking about something like this. We had a thread in the Mods section on the Mk2 OC only a few weeks ago when we had to sort out our classified section and it ran for a week or two before we all decided on the new rules/regulations.

Maybe you lot should try that next time before someone(s) gets trigger happy again.

The thread was started on Wednesday 10th December 2008 - 2:38pm, so it's been almost a month, not really trigger happy.

Also, having sales replies by PM only is how the scammers work or have some of you forgotten this? Working like this on PMs only would mean everyone would need a larger inbox = more space on server = more expense. Who's gonna pay for this as it seems some forum users DO want a free ride without paying so why suggest this?

Thanks for reiterating this, people don't seem to listen when i've been saying it!

my status hasnt changed (no little green club member lol) so what did i do...spoke to panda via PM, he replied within 15 mins and is gonna personally activate it for me tomorrow :-D

Thanks for proving my point, if it doesn't work straight away, all it takes is a quick PM to a member of staff, who then checks the paypal and you're done.

Retarded move imo.

Site will lose a lot of visitors now.

Money maker for the site owners?

Again, no-one takes money from the club. How many more times does this have to be said?

i read up to about page 4 but i cant lose an hour of my day reading this unfortunatly. I don't see it as a problem to be honest as I'm already a member and have been on for a reasonable about of time. People do need to use their noggin a bit more when buying expensive goods, if someone in the street offered your a laptop a phone and an ipod for 200 quid if you go to the cash machine now, you wouldnt do it.

I think maybe people who are signed up on here as members tend to be slightly more involved, or just post up regularly a few times a week or so at least. People should be cautious of those who simply use the classifieds. But as people who mess about with cars alot of us just have stockpiles of stuff in our garages and it all needs shifting some way or another and alot of the non members do help out with purchasing them.

however its wrong as a non member to scream at admin and tell them its wrong, they have a right to stick their middle fingers up and say no as your not a club member, we owe you nothing, and quite rightly so.

If you require parts and refuse to pay there are plenty of other alternatives including good old scrapyards, where you see the part you buy often removing it from the car yourself.

Just think, you cant have your cake and eat it, buying from classifieds here isnt like buying from asda or hmv online, 24 hour free delivery and 7 day no quibble money back guarantee.

And always try and phone sellers and talk to them, they like cars, you like cars, have a chat, you might find a new friend to get battered with at the upcoming shows

anyway i reckon this is a triple figure thread, gonna get up to page 100 at least, bansai, place your bets now

Thanks for your input, i'm glad you can see where we're coming from with this one. Hopefully i'm in the "friend to get battered with" section.

To sum up, Classified section will be returned to how it was.

However, a new disclaimer will be put in place and the Wanted section will remain members only.

Good comprimise?

good man panda
