I've become a member now. It's only a fiver....

Plus, I've wanted to become a member for years, just never got round to it!!

One person may pay £5 to scam others but they won't pay £5 multiple times over to create more than one scamming account. If it's all members, everyone will get to know other sellers / buyers and the scammers will be caught out pretty soon I'd say.

Look at the amount of people who had been scammed but never brought it up til now, that says something!

its a drop in the ocean, nik hewitt has scammed about £10k, so say he registers 50 accounts

its nothing...

your not fixing the problem :(

I can't really see this stopping scammers at all, however I can see it being a good initiative for the club to gain members. In all honesty, dispite using classifieds, I rarely post on the forums (I'm an avid user of UK-Polo's though) and if a scammer wants to scam, he'll pay £5. Whats that to someone who can scam hundreds?

Its like when someone genuine is trying to sell small parts worth little but which are common, do you think they are going to pay up £5 to sell £15 worth of stuff? I don't think so.

how about other methods, seat.net have to approve your ad individually before posting.

it's not so bad if it was just members who could post ad's but no stop non members from viewing with the intention of buying?

how many members to forum users are there? i'm suspecting alot less.

Thats where the problem lies, scammers would often PM users from posts and poach them.

uk-polos .net

polo3.co.uk

But you see it's upto the users discretion to use caution when buying anything

This is the whole reason ED38 stay out of the for sale threads, and say use at your own caution, if you get involved, and people still get scammed you could be liable for something.

As your making a member pay, supposedly to stop them being scammed, and if they are scammed then what was the point of them becoming a member. Its like faulse advertising or something

Its a silly idea if someone wanted to scam they would pay fiver and that would be a small price to pay for a large amount of money they could potentially scam. I regualry use the for sale and just like to browse.

Panda have you dicussed this with your fellow moderators ??

this is gay

hey,

I'm not currently a member, however i am prepared to purchase membership, next payday.

i do have a vehicle currently advertised for sale on the classifieds section...

and feel this is unfair.

I think its ridiculas to be perfectly honest, I've had a wanted and a forsale thread deleted! Am I a scammer.... No

There should be a 100 post /2 months restriction on anyone posting for sale/wanted threads up.

Tommy.

surely though ClubPolo can tell which paypal account the money is coming from, so if they see multiple payments from the one user bells will start ringing?

if i become a member an i get scammed in your secure classifieds can i sue club polo???

Can you reverse this, and if you still insist on it... let people pay/get memberships before a set date of switchover. I don't want to pay you a fiver, and have to wait 2+months to be able to get back in them.

F*cking ridiculous...

when i have interest in my classified ad... shocking!

pistonheads / eBay it is then...

THANKS CLUB POLO!

if i become a member an i get scammed in your secure classifieds can i sue club polo???

Yeah, it was a joint decision.

http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/ have a far better system than making you pay £5, you have to make a thread with a complete set of details on before you can post at all. if our forum was run properly like that one is there would be literally no spam what so ever, instead the level of moderation will stay the same and you'll reel in the £5 and then not keep up with the member packs. i appreciate about the stopping of the spamming, but if you are going to post people you have never met substantial amounts of money, you leave yourself open to being robbed. its not the clubs fault, its the individual.

Just a question, what is the lead time of membership packs at the moment? i dont mind collecting the pack from the RR day, but the member status (access to the classifieds) i'd sooner than later, otherwise alot of frequent users will lose interest.

Personnaly i think this will turn quite a few people away from the site... and considering i paid the £5 membership on the 18th december i still have not had my account upgraded so i still cant access the classified and i have supposedly joined!!!!!

if anyone is out to scam its not hard to become a member and pay a fiver, it's not alot of money at the end of the day and they're more than likely planning on scamming a fair amount of cash back after so they are hardly losing out?

I think people just need to alot more careful when buying things over the internet, you dont know who's who behind a screen untill you've met them face to face so you have to be wary about these things.

yeah i agree, if the time was taken with the members pack - fair enough but the issue lies within getting users status changed asap. The quicker the better for everyone.

mods will get less grief

users will be happier

Paying to be a member will increase the security of the for sale section, it also provides the club with a paper trail which we can relay to the police in the event of someone being ripped off.

Genuine people with an interest in the club shouldn't really have a problem with this investment. As one nice fellow has already said, it's yet another reason to sign up.

seems to be getting forgotten

whats stopping a scam artist becoming a member and still scamming?

i think there needs to be a date set for the crossover then, that seems only fair?

This will be the nail in the coffin for club polo i think too, i dont mean that in a nasty way at all, but the for sale section was all that brought me back here...

like i said before club polos classifieds was the best

gona miss it :-D
