I wouldnt like to think so, he did seem quite genuine but changed an agreed price on several occasions, decided to remove items that were included in the sale before prior approval, and then the final icing on the cake was telling me the car is sold after asking me to send a cheque through the post.

he may just be trying to get as much cash as possible from his crashed car which is very likely, however when agreeing on a deal you expect people to honour their verbal and written agreements.

I wasnt informed that the car was no longer for sale, after being asked to send over a cheque, so I'm personally not impressed at all and really think people should think twice about dealing with this gentleman.

I can honestly say this guy is not a scammer, i know him personally and have worked on his car.

There may have been a mis-understanding but he is NOT a scammer. All he is trying to do is get his money back from the crashed car, so the first person to come up with the money gets the bits. EASY AS.

The car has been sat in his garage and just getting in the way for about 2 months so what he can get rid of the quickest is the easiest way.

Settles it.

Considering i was going to send him a cheque for an agreed amount, and he would have had it cashed in his account and had the car collected at the weekend meant that not only would he have a clear garage but he would also have plenty of pennies to spend of whatever he wanted.

a scammer he may not be, but personally the kid is a joker and a timewaster. If you agree to sell something to someone, you would get pissed off if they flaked out on you, vice versa for a buyer having a seller pull out on them.

did the kid seriously think he was going to be able to get away with cashing my cheque and either

a) giving me a car with half of the bits removed that wasnt agreed

b) selling the car to some other person and cashing the cheque i sent him, only to have my recovery firm go to collect a non-existant car.

friends on the forum or not, i would seriously advise anyone to steer clear of this kid.

seliing a crashed car is already hard enough without turning down genuine buyers. no wonder its sat in your garage for 2 months!
