anyone know the exact date after which it was maditory to have a cataylst fitted to the vehicle?

2 years out. My cars a J plate so needs no cat. My K plate GT had one.

care wer manufactured with cat from late 80's but was not made compulsery till 94... (what i was told by a mot test centre)

That particular person you talked to obviously didnt know as has been stated its 1992.

DON'T GIVE OUT DUFF ADVICE. IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER THEN DON'T ANSWER - SIMPLE!!!

hahaha, check the facts before you post.

VW made a "decat" pipe for the mk3. Especially handy as the motor-factors Bosai exhaust catalogue now shows the mk3 catalyst as N/A. Not sure if the top pipe has a lambada nut in them, I'm assuming they do, but i dont honestly know.
