Hi, just thought id start a thread on my GT so i can see it changing. I bought it in december with the plan of it staying on my drive till the insurance ran out on my 6n allowing me to insure the GT with a years no claims.

Anyway onto the spec:

Were did you get the shift light from ?

got it off ebay! had trouble fitting it today because i couldnt work out which connection was the tacho connection on the electric ignition, fitted the gear knob and steering wheel though, will get pics up soon

bit of bad news..... its leaking oil so ill need to change a couple of gaskets in the next week, well the garage will anyway

i fitted my CD player and gear knob, i was impatient and the new steering wheel hasn't arrived so i fitted an old one, at least the boss is on for the new wheel anyway

still no look with the switch light.....

how mutch were the sparco wipers ?

not much, like £6 or 7 each from demon tweaks,

nice, like it all tbh, well apart from the "sparco" wipers

ye the wipers were about the same price as standard replacements and work a hell of a lot better, may paint over the sparco badge, we'll have to see

yeah previous owner had bike carbs on it for abit

was originally sharnocks or sumat

probably been in a prang, thumped a kurb or something

it has had a new wing, but seems to look fine under the bonnet

not got them yet, going to take a trip to pick up some legal pressed ones

well the car is waiting to go to the garage next week to get the oil leak sorted and head gasket changed, in the mean time I'm sorting out a few other bits. I have decided to re-shell the GT in the summer, my plan is to get an immaculate mk3 breadvan, weld up the rear windows and turn it into a proper subtle street sleeper van. Just worried about the weller's on the rear, but arch work will be needed. Anyway i got some standard strut top caps off here as I've got -10mm ones meaning it is lowered around 90mm at the front and I'm finding it too low, so hoping the 10mm will make a little difference. They were slightly corroded so i kurusted them and hammerited them.

i was lowered 90mm on my first gt, looked kiler but as you said near undrivably low

its just a thought at the moment because I'm an outdoor studies student in the lakes and need to be able to carry loads of climbing kit around, and i've never seen a proper van mk3 with no rear side windows, i'll try get someone to photoshop me one, or even a vanned coupe!
