I carnt see how the police wouldnt arresst a man that has just nocked someone out and broke his legs in two different places, with two witnesses (you and your mother and who ever else was in the car). Surely the police officer would arresst him and not just take a statement from you and your mother. If all of this is true, it shows how sh*t the police force is in Britain

I'm a cop and from what the opening poster said I can't believe that if the offender for a GBH was present at the scene when the police turned up then he wouldn't have been arrested, which leads me to think that either the BMW driver had disappeared by the time the cop turned up or that we haven't got the full version of events in the opening post. Where was the BMW driver while BSJ1 and his mum were giving statements?

I got this from ealier in the post that BSJ said "yer the bmw driver was still there when the po po got there"

There has got to be something more to this or just a really bent copper?

I'm struggling to picture this scene where there's a guy knocked out with a broken leg, the police turn up and take 2 statements, both of which would have said that the offender had just kicked his head in, and then the police officer lets both parties wander off with no further action taken. It just doesn't add up - unless the offender had actually disappeared by the time the cops arrived or unless there's some other information we don't know about.

I highly doubt the explanation that the cop was corrupt :) When you're sent to a job your name and number is matched up to the incident, and then you have to write up everything you've done when you get back to the station. If the call came in that someone had been assaulted and that the offender was still there and you'd just let him wander off, you'd be disciplined and/or sacked without question.

Personally I think there's a few details missing from the story.

You speak sense. I know a lot of coppers who have been complete nobs to me though, and some others who have been nicer than ever to me.

I think this needs a word from the post starter to confirm what actually happened, but he did say the BMW driver was at the scene when the police man/woman was

Even if the bmw driver was still there, I don't really see the situation dissapating by itself if one WPC turned up and did nothing?

And TBH BJ1, by your second post you're moaning about losing your polo which you're not gonna get nothing for. If someone broke my dads ankle (appart from going on a killing spree) I would want to make sure everything went through nice and smoothly for his sake...

Something is deffo missing from that story, if its true

Either that or i really am a sceptic

Maybe a visit to his BMW with a bat is in order.....

...or sue his ass!!

Agreed! This story really doesn't add up.......

my dad didn't give a statement as he was going to hospital and the police said they where going to come to the hospital to take a statement for my dad but they never did

on are way home the police call me mum and they where really sorry about what happened

sounds like some bad shiz, the insurance would deffo write it off, but as the bmw driver caused it and was clearly demented you should be able to claim off of his insurance and demand that they repair the car. if they wont repair, i wouldnt bother going through insurance, the wings only bolt on and can be swapped out in an hour and the dent in the rear quater could be easilly repaired

how old are you BSJ1?

i'm 21 but whats that got to do with it ?

the reason i'm concerned about the car is its the only transport that my dad can get in

and i need to be able to get him to hospital

we spent all day yesterday at reading hospital and he's got to go back in on thursday for an operation

I'm just hoping he'll be ok

the police called you and said they were really sorry for what had happened?

either i am taking crazy pills or there is something a miss here. What are the police sorry for? was it their fault it happened?

and as for a car... you call up your insurance tell them what happened, or even better call up a third party claims company- the geezer who hit you pays for everything and i can garantee you will get a hire car to drive for as long as you want.

Still seems weird though. If I knocked 2 shits out of a guy and put him in hospital, I would get arrested on the spot for GBH and probably some sort of Public Order Offence.

It's either you lying about what happened to your dad (which is just sick BTW) or the whole incident didn't happen and some idiot did that with their foot. Dents seem abit high on the front wing TBH and where's the blue paint?

Edit: Also, there don't seem enough damage on the E46 and if the bloke did that to your family, how come you was able to get so close to it to take a picture??

i'm not lying about it

and the bmw was gray not blue

the damage to the front wing was done by the bmw reversing in to it

i was only able to take the pic's when the police got there

what are police doing about it now? they know who the guy is.

if your worried about transport to get around, call a third party insurance company- if your story is genuine they will be rubbing their hands at this one! to be fair you will get a big pay out as well.

e.g of company:

whats to stuggle to understand, i was told last week i WILL be losing my licence in may for road rage. after a small disagreement i was chased by a corsa van with 2 men inside, they rammed my car so i pulled to the side of the road, got out and walked to the corsa where the driver pulled and axe out on me and tried pulling me into his vehicle whilst swinging the axe at my arm, so i rightly lamped him and he let go so i went back over to my car to wait for the police.

when they arrived they arrested me, i told them about the axe which they then found in his car then proceeded to let him drive off and took me to the station to charge me, i have been to court several times to enter my not guilty plea but was commited to crown court where last week was told i'll be on trial in may and i'll be losing my licence!

justice system? don't make me laugh!!!

hope everything goes ok mate, there are far too many a*holes round berkshire and many many travellers who are above the law.

dame man thats bad

and all this happend in Devon not Berkshire

seriously mate- its a mk2 coupe. i love polos as much as anyone on here, but loosing that car is not a big deal!

lets say you call the insurance. they write your car off. First of all, they wont come and take it away in the next hour, or the next day, or even this week.

So your still driving around.

And lets say they do write it off. you just buy it back of them.

So your still driving around.

Or lets say they take it off your hands... so you get on autotrader and buy a car for like £200 with a bit of test and a bit of tax to get you around for the next few months till you get sorted.

I appreciate your having a pretty bad time at the moment but you need to do two things- call your insurance, or a third party insurance claims company, and get some legal support. call the police- get on their back. you want something to happen.

Basically, if you dont, you still have a smashed up polo, and the idiot who hit you might kill someone next time he gets a bit p-ed off at someone.

the over thing is i've got £1200 worth of stuff for my polo

including all the suspension parts from www.g-laderseite.de

plus its only had one previous owner

that's why i want to keep the car

You could pick up a new polo for less than £500, probably a cheaper and easier option, unless it is literally just wing damage, but as you said earlier the steering column was broke, so other things might be amiss too. Especially if you get some compensation, imagine the killer polo you could make then!

i know what you mean mate, you put alot of time and effort into a car to get it how you want, now all seems lost as more than likely insurance view it as market valued middle of the road average polo when infact it's a minter or has had alot of new parts/ money thrown at it. end of the day it's your pride and joy just for some knob head to wreck it for you. my sympathies bud, hope family are all ok and on the mend!
