Argh! What an absolute bastard of a job this is turning out to be. It's 90% complete because the kit came with a split pin that's too long to fit in the dust cap!! To say I had seen my arse was a major understatement.

I'm sure I'm going to have to try and knock the races in a bit more on one of the drums as the split pin is a very, very snug fit.

When using the old races as a drift did anyone else find that you ended up getting the old races stuck in the drum

As I'm more than likely going to have to hammer the races in further, what do you suggest I use?

If anyones thinking of doing this job themself, use a big, heavey hammer, not a toffee hammer or you'll struggle.

this pops up a lot - and is the most common bit of maintenence the average person can do without trouble.

I used a 30mm socket to finish off the races, it worked a treat.

Don't piss about with a screwdriver, get a 30mm socket!
