Looking good, how much did you spend alltogether for the equipment? was thinking off doing the same, as id love to learn how to spray :)

ok so I need some help!

I have rubbed the primer off and got rid of all that surface rust that grew.

Now I need a way to seal it or protect untill we have some decent weather to spray it?

At the moment I have put the kurust stuff on, only because I have nothing else to put on it at the moment.

I don't want to spray more primer on it, for it to grow more rust and then have to rub it down again.

Is there a product I can put on it to protect it for the time being? Dont mind lacquer if it works?

iff youve got any bare metal areas that u dont want to rust jus put some etch primer on it stops it rustin. :)

But it will rust again, like you said it soaks up the water so there is no point primering it again?

if you have got rid of the rust properly and prime it then it wont rust, if you have primed it and it has rusted again its not that the primer has got wet its down to the metal still having rust and kururst wont do anything atol

Ok so I picked up a front bumper today, its in pretty bad condition paint wise.

It just needs alot of sanding, its not damaged in anyway.

The last owner tryed to smooth it as you can see in the first few pictures, but it had cracked and I felt I need to do it myself. so I popped them both out.

Can't wait to start on this when I have the time, I'll keep the thread updated.

Finally got the wheels done and fitted ( no pics of them fitted yet)

did you do the wheels yourself? what did you do to prepare them and what type of paint did you use on them to finish it off? they look great!!!! also have you been using a power sander or just sand paper with you hands? to treat the rust? I have a few spots on mine and was thinking of getting it sorted professionally but a might give it a go following this blog.

looks good mate, i have a set of the lower grilles if you are interested in buying a set :)

I use a DA sander first then go up in grades of sand paper. Yeah done the wheels but hand with sandpaper, just used some left over halfords satin black.

I've sprayed the front bumper now, i got pics just need to put them up, haven't fitted it yet tho...

Then did the same on the other side didnt get a chance to get finished pictures as it was dark and needed a clean anyways hopefully Dan will clean it up and get some new pictures on her.

How big a compressor do you need to be painting body panels?

We had i think a 25litre one 1.5hp it wasnt that much but its enough, btw Dan you need to change you avatar now! What does it look like in the day now after few days???

I am well impressed that you've had the balls to do it, and I dont think anyone will knock the work you guys have done. looks like you had a laugh doing it. I want to do my one now. looks well smart! like the door handles being the same colour too. nice work mate. would like to see it polished up!

i did mine the other day, it was all good just make sure u apply enough heat to it, I'm struglin gettin all the adheisive off tho lol

This polo is now SOLD, now to start my 9n, wont be doing anything this drastic to that, Thanks for all the views and comments.
