dont worry the connector for the isv is on the injector rail so when you have the injector rail pluged up there will be a 2 pin plug hanging from the middle of it this goes down the hole and onto the isv bit fiddly but not impossible

your perfectly right with the coil plug, match colours earth the other one.

isv plug comes off bottom of fuel rail as said above, fiddly but possible

aha! Now I'm stuck with the vacuum system :-(

vacuumsystem-1.jpg

The two-bit connection off the inlet manifold (the bit that the bottom-most tube 4 connects to) ...is this accurately represented?

Only from the bits I have the only pipe connected to the inlet manifold here is the brake servo assist vacuum line.

Also, where does the top-most hose 9 connect to?

I plan to remove the charcoal cannister and purge valve, god knows it's one hell of a lot simpler without it! :-)

Thanks folks!

thats all you really need to get it working pipe 6 goes on one end of the isv so its probably still connected to it. pipe 8 goes onto the fuel pressure regulator on the injector rail. and the bit that pipe 9 goes onto is for the hot air feed i think or charcoal filter.

Many thanks Donk!

The problem I have is that I don't seem to have the two-bit connector (in my above pic, just about see a red ring on the pic highlighting what I mean). Strange question as normally I go by ETKA as gospel, but it this two-bit connector instead of coming off the inlet manifold/brake servo vacuum hose somewhere actually the one on the inlet elbow just above the throttle body?

Cheers :-)

help bump :-)

i dont have a servo hose with them on either and have no idea what they are for as all the vacume hoses come off the tb so you dont need it, the 1.3 spi hose wont have any so use it as you will effectivly be blanking them off. you need 1 line to come of the back of the throttle body to the fuel pressure regulator and blank the one that comes of the front unless you are running the charcoal filter? and thats it in terms of small vacume hoses mine runs fine on the same setup so cant see why it would be any different for you

Donk, this is fantastic information! Many thanks indeed for taking the time to answer the questions :-)

  • 4 months later...

Any update on this? I'm very close to doing this conversion myself...

The car is running and generally works quite well.

What would you like to know?

Well i know yours is a 1.3 but by next weekend hopefully i'll have the same settup inc a gt cam on a tiny 1043! lol

Would just like to know what kind of performance your getting? had it rr'd? I've also got a g40 manifold and de-cat here too which should help free up some gases.

1L should be intresting..! Might find it will overfuel given the smaller capacity with a 1.3L map in the ECU. Also the ports in the 1L head are smaller than those on the 1.3 which might limit the bhp. Don't fit the G40 manifold - that's actually a backwards step as the ports are narrower than the GT unit. Decat may help though.

Sorry I've no figures for you as have not had mine RR'd yet. Definately feels naughtier though, especially with the cam. Definately get a Fahren/Poloace chip though - makes a noticable difference and runs much smoother.

Why are you converting a 1L? Obviously you have your reasons, but I'd at least try to fit a 1.3 head if you can.

Be sure to get a build thread going with plenty of pics! :-)

Just for a laugh mate! I had a mk2 valver before the polo with 155bhp so everything is a backward step lol!!

Are you talking about the g40 inlet or the g40 exhaust manifold? I put the downpipe next to a spare gt one which i had and its noticebly bigger bore. Although the setup which I'm getting does include a g40 inlet manifold?

Its also coming with a poloace chip. Would this mean its going to rev to 8k? dont think the 1043 head could take that! lol would that mean its going to overfuel too? i will invest in a gt head in the near future

Yup, sorry mate for some silly reason I though you meant inlet manifold. G40 exhaust manifold is a nice upgrade but you may not see any noticable gains until changing the head. 8k... should be ok if not too abused (though I don't have any experience of this! :) )
