Went on a little photoshoot with my mate in his Mk2 Bready (luketaylor_90).

Car needs a serious clean, but here's a few of the pics:

^ ^ Annoyed with this shot as i didn't line up the middle right, so will have to redo it.

Will upload a few more to Flickr at some point when the rest are edited, flickr.com/coreygreep :D

Had a slight knock on the front yesterday whilst i was turning around, just bumped the car into the corner of a wall :/

DSC00205.jpg

Should be easy enough to sort though, i'm not fussed about a top job repair. Probably nick the indicator off the other car, bang whatever was bent up out as straight as possible and line the head light up again.

damnn, the same happened to me but jus on a smaler scale, but someone reversed into me, should be a fairly easy fix

love the front side and back photos btw

Awwww man! :(

Yeah it's a piss take ay :/ not major damage though and its no show car so it'll be alright.

The photos came out better than i expected, just need to redo my mates Mk2. He's got the teardrops off the GT on it now too some need some new snaps ;)

Awwww man! :(

I know mate, gutted :(

No picture updates unfortunately, just a general update on the state of this miserable car ahah and maybe a bit of advice and help.

Currently the car is Tax'd and MOT'd, but i got no money to insure it in my name, so it's sat on the road (a non runner) in my dads name.

The reason it's a non runner is a mystery to me  i've always had running issues with this car, but it still managed to be fairly reliable. However i was driving down the road a while back and the car just died. Engine cut out and wouldnt start again. Tried bumping it but nothing :/

Left it for the day to get my dads help later, stuck the jump leads on it and it fired up! Took the jump leads off and it cut out again :?

So we thought it was probably the alternator not putting out a charge? So we put the jump leads back on, it fired up again, left the jump leads on it for about 5 minutes to put some charge into it when it cut out again! With the jump leads still attached :?

I'm thinking of changing the alternator, giving the car a service, degacking the throttle body and cable etc. and seeing what happens.

Anyone else ever had a similar problem with their polo?

have you thought it could be a battery, whats the water levels in it?

With jump leads, if the battery is pretty much dead, the current will pass straight through and help fire the car up which its doing supplying a good current and as soon as these are taken off, there is nothing due to the Dead Battery not holding anything, that is needed to power the ecu to keep the car running meaning it will cut out....

Make sense?

Worth giving it a shot, if not I'm clueless lol

Love your photos too man!!

Yeah that makes sense mate, cheers. It's had a new battery from GSF last year. I think i've always had a dodgy alternator tbh and it's finally decided to pack up altogether, i'll nick the GT one, give the battery a charge and see how it goes. At least if i can get it running, that's a start, and then work on all the other little problems!

And thanks mate! Need to get it back on the road and get some new ones :D

Looks much better from when you first got it. How did you get the red on the bumpers?

Cheers :)

Just some red trim tape from Halfords, couple quid and you'll still have loads left!

Me and my Dad took a look at the car a couple days ago, established there was no spark, swapped the distributor, rotor arm and coil pack thingy (not sure what it's called :paranoid:) off the GT and it's running again!! Just need a new throttle body to sort the revving problem and it'll be all dandy!

So today i treated it to its first wash and polish in a while, cleaned out the inside and swapped the rear seats with the GT ones so now got the full GT interior.

Tomorrow gotta dig out the heat gun and give the bumpers a blast and it'll be lookin sweeeet.

Few pics from today:

Head gaskets gone! full on pain in the ass but still, now that the head's off and everything in the engine bay is a bit more accessable, i can replace a few more things.

Giving the head to my dad's mate who's gonna sort it out and skim it so it's not too bad, still a fair whack outa my pocket though :(

So here's the car today after my dad and his mate made a start on it. (i watched and learned )

Hopefully sorted within 2 weeks for volksfest!!

and just a couple other phone pics from my travels haha:

Looking cool steel wheels for the win. Similar to my car in some ways. Metalic mk3 on steels :-)

cheers, yeah steel wheels look class, i'd much prefer them banded to 7J though :p

Good work mate!

Threads like this get me inspired. Much a similar story to my Mk3 Golf.

Does your olman own that Mini seen at the garage where you fit your shock?

Yoy going to do any engine mods while the head is off?

Keep up the good work mate!

BTW do you ride? I see a lot of your stickers are like BMX/MTB...

i saw your golf on a different thread (aslong as its the same one I'm thinking of), top notch ;)

yep that's his, it's in the garage awaiting an engine rebuild atm.

nah the car's all sorted and running again now anyway, i've just been slack and not updated the thread haha! i don't see any point modding the engine with it only being a 1L, maybe an uprated air filter that's the most i would do! i'm just going for the visual mods atm :D

Nothing new really just a few updated pictures from Mount Edgecumbe Classic Car show, i know it's know really a "classic" yet but if a million MX-5's and scoobies can enter than so can i  plus it's the same price to park in the car park as it is to enter your car :D

Whats happenin' with the GT now then?

  • Author

Cheers bud, nothing really i've swapped some of the parts onto mine so it's a non runner atm. I'm just keeping hold of it and probably gonna do a conversion into this one when insurance isn't still an issue. So yeah nothings happening with it right now but don't worry, i'm not gonna let it go to waste! 8-)

Quality from photobucket looks awful though :/

I'm thinking of sticking a matt black bonnet on, give the stickers a rest for a bit

Really want to get stuck into doing a few more things now as it hasn't changed for ages! Bit of engine bay work hopefully, tidy it all up, and most of all get those 60 springs on the front, they've been sat in the box for over a year :(
