The Ratting Has Begun...

Featured Replies

thats the thing tho, you're acting like your the first person to do this and its sooo extreme, but its not and nor are you, and i'm not hating on you, i'm just hating on this lameness that has become 'rat look', rat look car's used to be some thing different, they used to get more attention at meets and shows than the proper show cars that had £000's chucked at them... then every one jumped on the bandwagon with there nitromores and roof racks and since then rat look has been a joke. i'm not trying to upset you, why would i? i'm just explaining why your car is going to turn out just like all the other no imagination trying to be rat look cars, its no slight on you, your probably a nice guy, but from some one that really loved the rat look and all its stood for, cars like this just make me sad. rat look cars were our 2 fingers up at the establishment, every time a rat look car had bigger crowds around it at a meet or show it showed that you could still make a show stopper without wasting thousands of pounds, then this repetitive shit came along and rat look died. once the imagination left, paint stripper, roof racks and self importance is all that remains.

if you really wanted a rat look car you wouldn't need to put a roof rack on it and make it rusty, rats are about character and cars like this have non. i'd love you to prove me wrong, but i've seen way to many of these threads to hold out any hope.

So people jumped on the rat look wagen, some on the OE+ wagen, some on the euro wagen, some on the retro wagen, some on the cleaned wagen, some on the new wave wagen.

They're all looks and everyone has their fav! We all drive Polos on this site and there are going to be different examples of each style.

How exactly am I acting like the 1st person? Pointless throwaway comment.

Exactly. Well done that man.

Rat-look - it's a look. Just like any other 'look' that's been pigeon-holed by the 'scene'

How many people de-bagde, lower and widen? 100's.

How many people ride with BBS splits? 100's if not 1000's.

I'm ratting it 'cos it's already fucked, so I couldn't give a shit about what it looks like, and I'm not keeping it long. It's cheap to do, easy, and will reveal more of the car underneath, like the pigeon-shit welding that's been done, and any filler that may be on the body, not to mention the stoved-in panels.

if you want to "rat it up" on the cheap i'd suggest taking some sand paper to all the panels and taking it back to the primer in places for the patina'd look rather than just stripping the whole car

but hey, its your car ;)

politics

Might "Rat" my mk6 golf when it arrives next week.... now that'd be a first :)

Ballsy indeed!

Go on, you know you want to!

yeah rat look`s cool, its been around for years , like back to the fiftys kinda years . do it if you want to its yours at the end of the day , i my self am going for the SHAT look on my mk2 coupe , its basically been made of odd bits , eg breader rear lights , unpolished paint thats been battered all its life , got a set of manky alloys for it . its all for cracks and buying it and what i`ve done so far has cost me £25 , still got a fair bit to do but its cheap and going to be fun

Haha!

I'm sorry to disagree with a lot of people, but i thoroughly enjoy the 'Rat' look.

I KNOW, it's a Peugeot etc, and it does make me feel sick a bit that it's getting that big but i just love it.
