Hi i'm new to the forum and also the VDub scene after buying my Polo GTI.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section...

I believe my car to be due a service this year it's currently on 85k (it's a 2000 on a W-reg by the way).

What would be expected to be done in this kind of service, also what kind of price would i be looking at paying (i have a VW and Audi specialist very close by).

i dont know exactly what service it needs as an oil service is just oil n filter, a full sevice includes all filters and then you have to take in account if its going to need a cam belt , and anything else they find on the service like brakes . i`m sure some one on here knows what service its due , if not look in your hand book and let us know

cambelt was done at 60k, how often does it need doing?

The service book isn't that helpfull.

if the cam belt was done at 60k then you should do it at 120k or 3 years which ever comes first

It's a nine year old car so the service schedule may well have gone to pot by now, by the time a couple of people have owned it and taken it to different garages. The best thing is to look at your service history and see what it's had and when. Generally things like air filters, spark plugs etc are done every three years. Brake fluid changes are due every two years.

If the cambelt was done 25k ago it should be fine for now, as long as it was done within the last 4 years or so. I'm not sure what the official interval is but I'd do it every 40k or 4 years.

The way I see it is if you're planning on keeping the car a few years and buying all those parts anyway you may as well do it sooner rather than later.

Not sure which plugs people with GTi's prefer, I had NGK R ones in mine when I bought it but it's got genuine VAG ones in now and there's no difference at all.

And yeah, that is a nice example of a GTi, I remember seeing it at the Polo Show back in '06
