Nasty Front Sus Problem

Featured Replies

just for the record on VW top mounts you can't fail the mot if they have play in them when the vehicle is jacked up! you can only fail them if there is play when the car is on the ground and there is play when pulling on the wheel whilst on turn plates

Ahh cheers for that, that's what my dad reckoned aswell. I think I'll get some new ones just to be safe though!

make sure you buy genuine ones, the pattern ones don't last 5mins

Sorry to do a bit of hijacking but if the top mounts were buggered would this cause a lowering kit to drop even more?

Highjacking? Seems you've used the search, and then used an established and relevant topic for your post instead of creating a new one.

If only more people around here would do that.

So,in a nutshell, yes. If the top mount is crushed 5mm,your suspension will be 5mm lower - so if you're down 60mm on worn mounts, you're down about 65mm.

I've just fitted genuine new mounts to mine, got them from TPS for a score each (VW's spares agency) and my PhilJ kit is now all good.

how much are genuine topmounts?
